MDM / UEM — Mobile Device and Unified Endpoint Management
Entry signal — what decides who wins here
One thing must be trueEntry turns on a single condition that can be named and tested before much is spent. Clear it and this becomes an execution question; fail it and no amount of operating skill helps.
Displace an incumbent the screen found well defended — payments attached to the workflow, data that does not leave, a contract that renews itself. Share here means giving a buyer a reason to break something that currently works, which is a higher bar than being better.
Measured, not forecast: the share of US establishments opening in one year that were still active later. It counts good operators and bad ones together, which is exactly why it is the honest answer to “what are the odds”. It is for the whole sector rather than this market, and the ten-year figure comes from an older cohort because no younger one has reached ten years.
This is not a probability of success, and it is not a verdict on you. No survival probability is published per market, and inventing one would be worse than saying so. What the bar reads is how much of the outcome sits inside an operator's control: green means the hurdles are ones a better operator clears, red means the binding constraint is capital, an asset or a permission rather than execution. Someone arriving with an advantage this screen did not assume can win a market shown in red.

The binding constraint — incumbent vulnerability
The incumbent gives it away with the licence the buyer already holds. Microsoft Intune Plan 1 is included in Microsoft 365 Business Premium, E3 and E5, and in 2026 Microsoft moved its advanced Intune capabilities into E3 and E5 as well [C, vendor pricing page, opened 2026-10-18]. Any Windows-first organisation therefore owns a device-management console before a challenger calls. The rest of the market has spent two years being priced and sold by private equity rather than taking share from Microsoft: KKR bought VMware's end-user computing business from Broadcom for about $4B and relaunched it as Omnissa (Workspace ONE) on 1 July 2024, with $1.5B of ARR and 26,000 customers at launch [B, company release]; Francisco Partners took Jamf private at about $2.2B enterprise value, closed 30 January 2026 [B]; Ivanti, owned by Clearlake, Charlesbank and TA, refinanced about $2.8B of debt with $350M of new capital in May 2025 [B]. Growth capital has gone to the edges, not the centre. NinjaOne raised $500M at a $5B valuation in February 2025 by selling patching and endpoint management to IT teams and MSPs as one console [A, company release]. Apple-only specialists — Jamf, Iru (renamed from Kandji in October 2025), Mosyle, Addigy — live where Intune is weakest. Fleet raised a $27M Series B in June 2025 for an open-core, osquery-based alternative [B]. Every one of those wedges already has a funded owner. This is the device record. "MDM" also means Master Data Management, a separate record (541514-mdm-master-data-management) about customer and product data, not phones and laptops. It also differs from its neighbours. 541514-eam-enterprise-asset-management tracks physical plant and maintenance, not end-user devices. 541514-cnapp-cloud-security-posture-management scans cloud configuration, not the laptop. Incumbent vulnerability decides it: the default is bundled at zero marginal cost, and the independents are already owned or funded.

The incumbent
Who owns this market and who is coming for it. Fields a screen never reached say so rather than guessing.
Market size, derived
Built from the competitor set upward rather than quoted from a forecast. Published TAMs in these categories are frequently reverse-engineered from each other, so any published figure is checked against the vendor arithmetic rather than trusted on its own.
Disclosed revenue from 1 of 11 named vendors. The market is at least this large.
No vendor has both a disclosed revenue and a published share.
Only a revenue floor is known — the true market is larger by whatever the undisclosed vendors earn.

Two layers decide this market: the platform owners and the enrolment protocols. Apple, Google and Microsoft each define how a device is enrolled and what a management server may do with it. A vendor therefore competes on console, automation and price, not on control of the device — and the platform owner that also sells the office suite gives its console away.
Evidence
Evidence. Market size UNVERIFIED — no UEM market figure is used. Analyst sizes circulate (one publisher puts UEM at about $5.1B for 2023), and IDC's 2024 MarketScape shows share only as icon sizes; neither is a finding here. Opened 2026-10-18 [A]: Jamf's FY2024 10-K (filed 2025-02-27; revenue $627.4M, ARR $646.0M, 76,500+ customers, 33.2M devices, competitors named as 'VMware and Microsoft'); NinjaOne's own release of its $500M Series C extensions at a $5B valuation (2025-02-24, ICONIQ Growth and CapitalG; 24,000+ customers is a vendor claim, C). Opened [B]: Omnissa's launch release (1 July 2024, Palo Alto; $1.5B ARR, 26,000 customers, KKR ~$4B). Omnissa's about page now gives '$1B+' ARR; the gap is unexplained and both are vendor figures. Also opened [B]: MacTech's copy of the Jamf close release (Francisco Partners, $13.05 a share, ~$2.2B EV, 2026-01-30), with EDGAR showing Jamf's last 8-K on 2026-02-02; Clearlake's Ivanti refinancing release (2025-05-02, $350M new capital, maturities to 2029, 34,000+ customers claimed); Gunderson Dettmer (Kandji $100M Series C, Tiger Global, November 2021) and Latham & Watkins (Kandji $100M from General Catalyst, July 2024); Crunchbase News (Mosyle $196M Series B, Insight Partners, May 2022); ChannelBuzz (Fleet $27M Series B, Ten Eleven Ventures, $52.3M total, June 2025). The Microsoft Intune product and pricing pages were opened and show Intune Plan 1 in Microsoft 365 Business Premium, E3 and E5, with advanced Intune capabilities now in E3 and E5 [C, vendor]. The Kandji-to-Iru rename (October 2025) rests on iru.com's own title 'Iru (formerly Kandji)'; kandji.io now redirects there. Kandji's $850M 2024 valuation and ~$288M total funding come from search summaries of trade press and are not used as totals. Addigy's PSG investment (2022) could not be opened (channele2e.com returned 403), so it is a search summary [C]. Omnissa's deal page on channelfutures.com and O'Melveny's page returned 403. Not researched: BlackBerry UEM, Kaseya, Tanium, Automox, Absolute. The Hexnode, ManageEngine and Addigy HQ cities are not stated as HQ on the pages opened; see the companies file.
