Amarillo, Texas
Amarillo's owner of every parcel is free and CC0 in the State of Texas's 2026 land-parcel file, drawn from the Potter-Randall Appraisal District - but no public record says what any building sold for.
11 buildings · 11 with an owner established · 18 sources · 10 tier B · 1 tier A · prepared 2026-10-14
Texas keeps no public title register; ownership is read from the appraisal district. Amarillo straddles Potter and Randall counties, both appraised by the Potter-Randall Appraisal District (PRAD), whose search portal is a JavaScript app. The same owner-of-record data - owner name, mailing address, legal description and account - is republished free by the Texas Geographic Information Office (TxGIO) in its StratMap 2026 Land Parcels file under a CC0 public-domain dedication, though for these two counties the file carries no values. Deeds are recorded by each County Clerk (Potter: $1 a page for copies, $5 to certify). No record holds a price: Texas has no mandatory sales disclosure, and sales an appraisal district learns of privately are confidential under Government Code Sec. 552.149.
The marquee buildings
The towers that set the tone of the core, and who holds them. A price is the price a document states, on the date it states — not an estimate of what the building is worth now.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| FirstBank Southwest Tower (formerly Chase Tower) 600 S Tyler St, Amarillo |
Office | Chase Tower LLC The tallest building in Amarillo (374 ft, 31 storeys, per Wikipedia; renamed when FirstBank Southwest took naming rights in 2018-19). The roll does not say who stands behind Chase Tower LLC, and no filing opened does. No price: Texas records none. |

The core land
The most valuable ground in the city, and what the public record says about it.
Every figure is computed from the State's StratMap 2026 Land Parcels files for Potter and Randall counties (PRAD's roll, tax year 2026, acquired 1 August 2026), restricted to the 83,684 parcels whose centroid lies inside the City's city-limit layer. Neither county's file carries land, improvement or market values (all are zero), so this record gives no dollar values; PRAD's own values sit behind a JavaScript portal that was not read.
Who owns the town
At this scale the significant owner is rarely a trust or a fund: it is one or two local holding companies, a family in its second or third generation, and often the land around the town rather than the buildings in it.
Inside the city limit the City of Amarillo is by far the largest holder - about 6,460 acres, more than a tenth of all mapped parcel land, most of it the airport and park and utility tracts. Amarillo College and the school districts come next, then the railways. The largest private acreage is a handful of local land companies holding the city's undeveloped edges, several of which share mailing addresses. Acreage is computed from each parcel's mapped area in the State's 2026 parcel file; the file carries no values for Potter or Randall, so no dollar figures are given. Accounts in individuals' names are left out and not named.

Who builds the houses
New-home building in this market: the volume, and the firms behind it. Ownership of a builder matters as much as its volume — a private-equity platform and a family firm behave differently.
Amarillo's new houses are built mostly by regional and local firms, not the national public builders: no account inside the city is in the name of D.R. Horton, Lennar, LGI or another listed builder. Lubbock-based Betenbough Homes holds the most lots and unsold houses, followed by Amarillo firms Sinclair Builders and Bluehaven Homes. The figures below count accounts held in each builder's name inside the City limit on the 2026 roll - lots and unsold homes, not homes built. No league table of Amarillo starts by builder was found.

Commercial landlords
The commercial side, counted separately from housing: who holds the office, retail and industrial floor area.
Amarillo's large private income property is retail and medical, not offices: the mall is owned by New York-based investors, the two hospital systems are owned by listed operators (UHS and Ardent), and owner-occupied big boxes and net-lease REITs hold the retail pads along I-40 and Soncy Rd. The downtown office stock turns on one tower (Chase Tower LLC) and a few local holders. A Chicago-based single-family-rental borrower is the largest holder of rented houses. Figures are accounts and mapped acres inside the City limit on the 2026 roll; no values are carried.

Claims this page would have made if a source could be opened. They are left out rather than guessed.
- PRAD's own terms of use, any free export file and its licence. prad.org is a client-rendered portal that returned no readable text; the State's TxGIO file of the same roll is CC0, and that is the copy used.
- Any value. The TxGIO file is zero-filled for Potter and Randall, and PRAD's values were not read, so no highest-valued account, no total and no land benchmark is given.
- Who stands behind Chase Tower LLC (FirstBank Southwest Tower), GKC Operating LLC, the 7830 Hillside Rd and PO Box 30206 groups, and the Fort KL / CF KL rental borrowers. No filing or company page opened names them, so no person is named.
- Whether BSA's main hospital building is one of the ten Ardent hospitals leased from Ventas. The roll names BSA Hospital, LLC; Ardent's 10-K does not name the ten leased hospitals.
- Westgate Mall's financial position. Wikipedia names the investors; no loan, default or receivership filing was found in the EDGAR searches run, and the Amarillo Globe-News report of the sale was not opened.
- Holdings of the Amarillo Housing Authority. No account is in its name; as a City department its property, if any, would sit under City of Amarillo.
- What the 39 'U S Government' accounts (about 19,840 acres) in Potter County outside the city are. The roll gives no use.
- The Pantex Plant's land record. It lies in Carson County, whose roll was not read; the owner given rests on Wikipedia.
- Randall County's deed-copy fee (fee page not located) and anything on amarillo.gov (403 to scripts).
- Builder starts by company. Builder figures are account counts on the roll, not homes built.
