Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • Districts: Census geocoder at City Hall (40.9340,-73.8990) gives CD-16, SD-35, AD-90. Twelve sample points across the city all fell in NY-16; state districts seen were SD-35 and SD-37, and AD-89, AD-90 and AD-92. This is a sample, not a full overlay, so other state districts may also touch the city. Only the City Hall state seats (SD-35, AD-90) are recorded as people, as the brief requires.
  • Candidates: the only official 2026 general-election list that could be read is the Board of Elections in the City of New York contest list (printed 9/11/2026, marked 'tentative, subject to change'). It covers the statewide contests and NY-16, which runs from Westchester into the Bronx. Captured: Governor (Hochul/Adams, Democratic and Working Families, v Blakeman/Hood, Republican, Conservative and Vote Affordable) and NY-16 (Latimer, Democratic, v Cinquemani, Republican, as printed for the Bronx part). The Westchester ballot may carry further lines for NY-16; not checked. SD-35, SD-37 and the Assembly seats are not on the NYC list, so their candidates are NOT captured. State Comptroller (DiNapoli v Hernandez) and Attorney General (James v Komatireddy) are on the ballot but outside the brief. The sitting Lieutenant Governor is not recorded. Candidate street addresses printed on the list were not copied.
  • Blocked or not used: (1) The Westchester County Board of Elections (citizenparticipation.westchestercountyny.gov) and www.westchestercountyny.gov have robots.txt with 'User-agent: ClaudeBot / Disallow: /'. westchestergov.com 301-redirects its robots.txt to the same file. Following the Suffolk precedent in us-oyster-bay, none of them was fetched, so the county's 'Offices to be Elected 2026' list (unofficial, dated 7/21/26 according to a search result) and its candidate list were not read. (2) www.yonkersny.gov (CivicPlus) returns a Cloudflare 'Sorry, you have been blocked' page even to robots.txt, so no city council page, photos or statements. (3) www.nysenate.gov returns a Cloudflare 403 to robots.txt. (4) elections.ny.gov was not retried: other agents this month hit a Cloudflare challenge there. Nothing was retried with another User-Agent or another tool.
  • Municipal: only the Mayor is recorded, from the State Comptroller's B26-6-6 letter (July 3, 2026). The City Council (a Council President elected citywide plus six district members) could not be confirmed from any reachable official list, so no council rows were written. For the coordinator to verify later: a web search summarising yonkersny.gov's '2026 City Council Committees' page, which could not be fetched, named Council President Lakisha Collins-Bellamy, Majority Leader John Rubbo, Majority Whip Deana R. Norman, Minority Leader Michael B. Breen, Corazon Pineda-Isaac (2nd District), Tasha Diaz (3rd District) and Tim Hodges (6th District). That is unverified and not used as a source. No other citywide elected office was confirmed.
  • Next municipal election: Yonkers city offices are elected in odd-numbered years. New York's 2023 even-year election law covers towns and counties, not cities, so the next city general election is November 2027 (this rests on the odd-year cycle, not on an election list). No city office was confirmed on the 2026 ballot, because the Westchester list could not be read.
  • Party: the Assembly member page, the Governor's release and the OSC letter print no party for Sayegh, Stewart-Cousins or Spano, so their party is null rather than inferred. Federal parties come from clerk.house.gov and the CC0 congress-legislators file. Candidate party lines are as printed on the NYC contest list, with partyShort set to the major-party line.
  • Licences: nyassembly.gov and vote.nyc link no terms page from their home pages. The governor.ny.gov Website Disclaimer and the osc.ny.gov Privacy and Links Policy set no reuse terms. clerk.house.gov states none. congress-legislators is CC0. Photos are linked, never copied. standsFor is null for everyone, because no candidate statements were read. Write-ins and primary losers are excluded. No Ballotpedia, Wikipedia or news was used as a source for anyone's status.
