Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • Candidates: Virginia Department of Elections HTML lists 'November 3, 2026 - Federal Offices' and 'Local Offices' (WILLIAMSBURG CITY rows), fetched 2026-10-31; ELECT robots.txt disallows *.csv/*.xls/*.xlsx/*.json, so only the HTML pages were used. Local: 'Member City Council | Williamsburg City | 2 seats | 4 year': Stacy E. Kern-Scheerer (Incumbent Yes), Carolyn A. Murphy, Eino I. Korpela, all 'Independent' on the list (nonpartisan ballot -> party null, ballotParty kept). The list prints street addresses, phones and personal webmail for the council candidates - none copied.
  • BLOCKED: www.williamsburgva.gov robots.txt has 'User-agent: ClaudeBot / Disallow: /' (and other AI-agent groups), so no City page was read: no council roster, photos, official emails, terms, or the Registrar/Electoral Board pages hosted there. Search-engine results (not fetched; for Jim to verify) quote the City Council page as listing Mayor Douglas G. 'Doug' Pons (term expires Dec. 31, 2026), Vice Mayor W. Pat Dent, and Council Members Barbara L. Ramsey, Stacy Kern-Scheerer and Ayanna T. Williams; a WYDaily article (2026-06-16) reports three filers (Korpela, Murphy, Kern-Scheerer) by the June 16 deadline. Because those come only from search snippets of a page this agent may not fetch, Pons, Dent, Ramsey and Williams are NOT person rows; only Kern-Scheerer (ELECT incumbent flag) is. Pons's name is not on the 2026 candidate list, so his seat appears to be open. The Mayor is chosen by Council from its members (per the same snippets).
  • Districts: Census geocoder at City Hall gives CD-1 (120th Congress), SD-24, HD-71 (2026 layers), all in 'Williamsburg city' (an independent city, its own county-equivalent). In-city grid result: see gridNote below.
  • Federal: Wittman from house.gov/representatives ('1st | Wittman, Robert | R'); Senators Warner and Kaine from the CC0 @unitedstates file; Wittman photo linked from clerk.house.gov (HEAD 200). State: Governor Spanberger from governor.virginia.gov/about-the-governor/ (path allowed); Sen. Diggs from apps.senate.virginia.gov (robots 404); Del. Anderson from house.vga.virginia.gov/members (robots has no rules). Only City Hall's legislators are listed, and HD-71's official description covers all of Williamsburg.
  • standsFor null for everyone. Nothing accepted, requested or emailed; one User-Agent throughout.
  • gridNote: 8x8 grid (lat 37.247-37.297, lon -76.745 to -76.680), Census geocoder; counts of in-city points: Williamsburg city inside 29; 29 ('ACS', '119th Congressional Districts', 'Congressional District 1'); 29 ('ACS', '2024 State Legislative Districts - Lower', 'State House District 71'); 29 ('ACS', '2024 State Legislative Districts - Upper', 'State Senate District 24'); 29 ('Cur', '120th Congressional Districts', 'Congressional District 1'); 29 ('Cur', '2026 State Legislative Districts - Lower', 'State House District 71'); 29 ('Cur', '2026 State Legislative Districts - Upper', 'State Senate District 24')
