Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • Districts: Census Geocoder at City Hall (34.2817, -119.2945; coordinates only) gave 'San Buenaventura (Ventura) city', CD-24 (120th), SD-21 and AD-38 (2026). A 9x9 grid over -119.31..-119.13, 34.23..34.32 put 65 points inside the city: 2026/120th map CD-24 36, CD-26 29; 119th map (ACS2025 vintage) CD-24 57, CD-26 8; all 65 in SD-21 and AD-38 on both legislative vintages. The SOS Roster's Ventura entry prints 'Legislative Districts: AD74, SD36, CD49' and 'Population: 62297', which match neither the geocoder nor the city — apparently a Roster error; not used.
  • Candidates (federal and state): California Secretary of State 'Certified List of Candidates for the November 3, 2026, General Election', certified 2026-08-27, retrieved 2026-10-31. The list marks state incumbents with '*', not federal ones. Party and ballot designation as printed; no addresses on the list. AD-38 is a Democrat-v-Democrat top-two contest (Bennett v MacDonald).
  • Municipal officeholders: SOS 'California Roster 2026 — Incorporated Cities and Town Officials' (admin.cdn.sos.ca.gov, retrieved 2026-10-31): Mayor Dr. Jeannette Sánchez-Palacios; Vice Mayor/Mayor Pro Tempore Doug Halter; Council Ryyn Schumacher, Alex Mangone, Liz Campos, Jim Duran, Bill McReynolds. The Roster gives no district numbers, so seats are null; Ventura elects seven councilmembers by district and the Council selects the Mayor. Appointed officers (City Manager, Clerk, Attorney, Treasurer, chiefs) not recorded. The Roster's city address, phone and email are not copied into any row.
  • City 2026 election, NOT captured: www.cityofventura.ca.gov returns a Cloudflare 'Attention Required!' 403 to this User-Agent, including for robots.txt (one further request, the home page, got the same block; nothing retried). Search results show the city's '/2790/November-3-2026-Election' page, a '2026 Candidate Contact Info' document, 'District 1' and 'District 4 Candidate Statements 2026', a 'Candidate Nomination Period' notice for Districts 1, 4, 5 and 6, and a news item 'District 6 Council Race Gets Extended Filing Period' — none read, so no municipal candidate is recorded and no sitting councilmember is marked incumbent-running. Ventura County Elections (venturavote.org, recorder.countyofventura.org, www.countyofventura.org) answer robots.txt with an F5 'Request Rejected' page; www.venturavote.org resets the connection. Not worked around.
  • Next municipal elections: Districts 1, 4, 5 and 6 on 2026-11-03 (from search-result titles of city pages, not read); Districts 2, 3 and 7 in November 2028 — inferred from four-year staggered terms, not read.
  • Federal: house.gov Directory of Representatives (Carbajal, Brownley) and the CC0 @unitedstates legislators-current.json, 2026-10-31; senate.gov not used. State: senate.ca.gov/senators (Limón), assembly.ca.gov/assemblymembers (Bennett, District 38, Democrat; portrait linked), gov.ca.gov/about (Newsom).
  • Not recorded: Ventura County supervisors and other county offices, school boards, judges, measures. standsFor null for everyone. Write-ins and primary losers excluded. No home addresses, phones or personal emails in any row.
  • Robots/terms: elections.cdn.sos.ca.gov and admin.cdn.sos.ca.gov answer robots.txt with S3 'AccessDenied' 403 (no file); geocoding.geo.census.gov and unitedstates.github.io 404; house.gov, senate.ca.gov, assembly.ca.gov, gov.ca.gov robots allow the pages used. Blocked: cityofventura.ca.gov (Cloudflare), Ventura County election hosts (F5).
