Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • Municipal: Mayor Anders Ibsen and eight Council Members (Districts 1-5, At-Large Positions 6-8) from https://tacoma.gov/government/departments/city-council/ and each member's tacoma.gov/profile page, retrieved 2026-10-22 (tacoma.gov robots.txt: 'User-agent: * Disallow:' — all allowed; cityoftacoma.org redirects there). Tacoma is council-manager; the charter creates no other city-wide elected office besides Municipal Court judges. Offices are nonpartisan, so party is null. Joe Bushnell (D5) is Deputy Mayor.
  • City items on the November 3, 2026 ballot (SOS list, District 'CITY OF TACOMA'): Tacoma Municipal Court Pos. 1 Dee Sonntag, Pos. 2 Sergio C. Flores, Pos. 3 Steven J. Krupa — each the only candidate; judicial, not recorded as people. No council seat is on the 2026 list. Tacoma's regular municipal elections are in odd years; the next is November 2, 2027 (SOS election list shows 'GENERAL 2027 (11/02/2027)'); by the profiles' election years, District 1, District 3 and At-Large 7 and 8 (last elected 2023) are the seats due then — inferred, not from a published list.
  • Congressional districts covering the city: TIGERweb's robots.txt returned an F5 'Request Rejected' page, so it was not used. Instead the Census geocoder coordinates endpoint was sampled on a 14x14 grid over the city's bounding box (91 points inside 'Tacoma city', place 5370000): WA-6 75, WA-10 16; plus an 8x8 grid on the west edge (38 inside, all WA-6). City Hall (747 Market St, queried by coordinates 47.2534, -122.4408) is WA-6, LD-27 Senate and House. The grid is coarse (~1 km) and could miss slivers.
  • Legislative districts covering the city by the same grids: LD-27 (70 + 32 points) and LD-29 (21 + 6). No LD-28 point fell inside the city. Only City Hall's LD-27 members are recorded, per the brief. LD-29 2026 contests on the SOS list, not recorded as people: Senate Sharlett Mena vs David Anderson; Pos. 1 Krista Perez vs Melanie Morgan; Pos. 2 Joe Bushnell (Tacoma Deputy Mayor) vs Patrick Stickney — all 'DEMOCRATIC' same-party top-two races.
  • Federal: sitting Representatives from https://www.house.gov/representatives (Washington table: 'Randall, Emily | Washington 6th | D'; 'Strickland, Marilyn | Washington 10th | D'), retrieved 2026-10-22 (house.gov robots allows /representatives). Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell from the CC0 @unitedstates legislators-current.json (senate.gov returned 403 in earlier runs; not tried). No federal photos linked.
  • State: Governor Bob Ferguson from https://governor.wa.gov/. LD-27 members from https://leg.wa.gov/legislators/ (data-district='27': Senator Yasmin Trudeau; Representatives Laurie Jinkins, Speaker, and Jake Fey; party printed 'Democrat'). Positions (1 = Jinkins, 2 = Fey) from the SOS list.
  • Candidates: Washington Secretary of State VoteWA 'GENERAL 2026 (11/03/2026) Candidate List', https://voter.votewa.gov/CandidateList.aspx?e=899 (887 items in 9 pages; read in full through the page's own 'Export to CSV' button, same URL), retrieved 2026-10-22; all rows shown are Status 'Active'. Washington is top-two: party is the stated preference as printed (kept in ballotParty). WA-6: Emily Randall (D, inc.) vs Teresa Fox (R). WA-10: Marilyn Strickland (D, inc.) vs Chris D. Chung (R). LD-27 Pos. 1: Laurie Jinkins (D, inc.) vs Carole Sue Braaten (R); LD-27 Pos. 2: Jake Fey (D, inc.) unopposed. No U.S. Senate, Governor or LD-27 Senate race. Primary losers and write-ins excluded.
  • Blocked, not bypassed: Pierce County Elections (www.piercecountywa.gov/elections) returns a Cloudflare 'Just a moment...' challenge (HTTP 403) to the plain User-Agent; not retried. Its robots.txt (read first) allows the path for '*' with Crawl-delay 10 and lists ClaudeBot and other AI crawlers in a group with the site-wide Disallow rules only. tigerweb.geo.census.gov robots.txt: F5 'Request Rejected' — treated as not allowed. Pierce County's own candidate list and sample ballot were therefore not read; the SOS list is the official statewide filing list covering every race here.
  • Robots/terms: tacoma.gov (allows all; Website Disclaimer is liability-only, no reuse licence), voter.votewa.gov (no robots.txt — 404; no terms link on the page), house.gov (allowed), leg.wa.gov (no robots.txt — 404), governor.wa.gov (User-agent: * with standard Drupal disallows; home page allowed), geocoding.geo.census.gov (no robots.txt — 404), unitedstates.github.io (no robots.txt; CC0).
  • No home or mailing addresses, phones or personal emails recorded (the SOS list prints mailing addresses, phones and emails; only campaign-domain emails were kept, gmail/outlook ones left null). standsFor null for everyone (no candidate statements read). Wikipedia, Ballotpedia and news were not used.
