Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • Municipal: Mayor from the Mayor's Office page and 13 City Councilors (5 at-large, Wards 1-8) from the City Council Members page (https://www.springfield-ma.gov/cos/city-council-members), both retrieved 2026-10-29. The page header reads '2026-2027 ... Elected 2025 to a 2 Year Term', but its footer says last updated 2024-01-30 and it still labels Fenton (Ward 2) 'President' and Edwards (Ward 3) 'Vice President' while naming Whitfield President and Delgado Vice-President — treat the officer labels as uncertain. The page prints councilors' home addresses, phones and some personal emails; none recorded (only @springfieldcityhall.com emails kept). Springfield has no other city-wide elected office besides the School Committee (skipped). Municipal ballots are non-partisan: party null, partyShort 'None'.
  • Next Springfield municipal election: November 2027 (council two-year terms elected 2025; the Mayor's four-year term began after the 2023 election). No City of Springfield office is on the 2026-11-03 ballot; the Election Office calendar lists only state-election offices.
  • City hall (Census geocoder match for the City Hall street address, 42.10091,-72.58972) is in MA-1, Senate Hampden and House 10th Hampden per the 120th Congress and 2026 state legislative layers. Springfield lies wholly in MA-1 but is split among several state Senate and House districts (the Hampden Senate district itself covers only part of Springfield plus part of Chicopee); the other districts were not enumerated, and only city hall's legislators are recorded.
  • Candidates: the Secretary of the Commonwealth's 2026 State Election candidate list (sec.state.ma.us) is behind an Imperva/Incapsula JavaScript challenge (not bypassed; see BRIEF-SOURCES Massachusetts note). The Springfield Election Office (springfield-ma.gov/elections) posts a 2026 calendar of offices but no candidate list or specimen ballot. Nominees therefore come from PD43+ (electionstats.state.ma.us): certified 2026 State Primary (September 1) results, one row per party nominee; 2026 election ids found via the site's 'similar results' jump list from 2024 searches. Every running status resting on these is marked 'unofficial': true. Unenrolled/independent and minor-party candidates who filed nomination papers are NOT captured; write-ins and primary losers excluded.
  • 2026 ballot as captured: U.S. Senate — Markey (D, incumbent) vs John Deaton (R). MA-1 — Neal (D, incumbent; beat J. Whalen 53%-45% of votes cast in the primary), Republican primary 'No Nomination'. Governor — Healey (D, incumbent) vs Michael Roger Minogue (R); Lt. Governor — Driscoll (D, incumbent) vs Shawn Oliver (R). Senate Hampden — Gómez (D, incumbent), no Republican nominee. House 10th Hampden — González (D, incumbent), no Republican nominee. counts.unopposed = 3 (Neal, Gómez, González) means no other party's nominee from the primaries; unenrolled challengers could not be checked.
  • Federal: Neal from house.gov/representatives; Senators and terms from the CC0 @unitedstates legislators-current.json (senate.gov returned 403 to robots.txt on 2026-10-22, not retried). Governor/Lt. Governor incumbency from PD43+ 2022 general (154338); mass.gov not fetched. State legislators from malegislature.gov member lists (retrieved 2026-10-29); its Terms forbid photo use without consent, so no legislator photos linked.
  • Robots/terms: springfield-ma.gov (robots allows the pages used; Terms of Use: public record 'can be copied and used for any purpose'), electionstats.state.ma.us (robots allows all; terms link to blocked sec.state.ma.us), malegislature.gov (robots allows all; photos restricted), house.gov (robots allows /representatives), unitedstates.github.io (robots 404; CC0), geocoding.geo.census.gov (robots 404). No street address, phone or personal email in any person row. standsFor null for everyone (no candidate statements read).
