Notes on this record
How the lists were read, and what could not be.
- Candidates from the Mississippi SOS statewide composite sample ballot for November 3, 2026 (PDF dated 9-9-26; sos.ms.gov robots allows), read 2026-10-31. Same list as the us-jackson record (which matched it to the SOS 2026 Candidate Qualifying List). Ballot labels 'Democrat'; partyShort normalised to Democratic. Write-ins skipped. DeSoto County judicial seats not itemised.
- Districts: City Hall (8710 Northwest Dr) geocodes to CD-1, SD-2, HD-20 (Census geocoder 2026 legislative / 120th Congress layers). Census tab20_cd11920_place20_st28: all of Southaven city in MS-1. A 0.02-degree grid gave 22 city points: all CD-1; Senate Districts 1, 2, 11, 19 and House Districts 7, 20, 24, 25, 40 (at least). Only the City Hall seats are people rows.
- State legislators from the Mississippi Legislature member XML on billstatus.ls.state.ms.us (no robots.txt — 404): ss_membs.xml, hr_membs.xml, senate/parker.xml, house/hall.xml. The records give only an email user name (no domain), so emails are left null. Governor row reused from the us-jackson reading (2026-10-29).
- Municipal: Mayor and the seven-member Board of Aldermen from www.southaven.org (CivicPlus; robots.txt ClaudeBot group does not disallow these pages; Crawl-delay 10 honoured). Page: 'The City of Southaven Board of Aldermen consists of seven elected officials. Each alderman represents his/her specific Ward, with one alderman being elected at-large ... Alderman are elected for a four-year term.' The City's Election Information page covers the 2025 municipal elections (primary April 1, 2025; general June 3, 2025); the next municipal election is therefore expected in 2029 (not stated on the page). No City office on the 2026 ballot. No official city emails printed per member; the office phone was not copied.
- Federal officeholders from the CC0 @unitedstates legislators-current.json. No federal photos linked. standsFor null for everyone. No home addresses, phones or personal emails recorded. Ballotpedia, Wikipedia and news not used.
