Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • Candidates: Woodbury County Auditor official sample ballots for the November 3, 2026 General Election, linked from elections.woodburycountyiowa.gov/elections/info/2026_general_election_2026_11_03/ (no robots.txt — 404; no terms stated), retrieved 2026-11-01. All 31 sample-ballot PDFs for Sioux City precincts 1-29 were read (precinct 17 Lawton and 30+ are outside the city and were skipped); raw PDFs deleted after text extraction. Precincts 1-22 carry SD-1, 23-29 SD-7; House: HD-1 (precincts 1-11), HD-2 (12-16, 18-22), HD-14 (23-29). Every city ballot carries IA-4. The precinct 12 ballot (HD-2/SD-1, City Hall's districts) is the record source. Write-ins skipped. sos.iowa.gov was not used (robots.txt disallows ClaudeBot/anthropic-ai, per earlier agents).
  • Not captured: other statewide offices (Secretary of State Pate v Peterman; Treasurer Smith v Norwood; Agriculture Naig v Jones; Attorney General Bird v Willems; Auditor Cournoyer v Wettach — only Cournoyer recorded, as the sitting Lt. Governor); SD-7 (Kevin Alons, R, sitting, sole name on the ballot), HD-1 (J.D. Scholten D is the sitting member; the ballot lists Josh Steinhoff R v Shawn Olorundami D) and HD-14 (Jacob Bossman R, sitting, sole name) — outside City Hall; county offices, judges and measures.
  • Statewide rows (Grassley, Ernst, Senate and Governor candidates, Reynolds, Cournoyer) are carried from us-davenport (2026-10-31) and the names were checked against the Woodbury ballot — identical.
  • Districts: Census Geocoder at City Hall (405 6th St) gave Sioux City city, CD-4, SD-1, HD-2. A 0.025-degree grid matched 31 points to 'Sioux City city' — 5 of them were South Sioux City, NE / North Sioux City, SD (CD-3, at-large, NE LD-17); of the 26 Iowa points all were CD-4; SD-1 (18) and SD-7 (8); HD-2 (12), HD-14 (8), HD-1 (6). Only City Hall's legislators are recorded.
  • State: legis.iowa.gov Senate and House member lists (robots allows; 91st GA), retrieved 2026-11-01: SD-1 Catelin Drey (Democrat), HD-2 Bob Henderson (Republican). Governor and Lt. Governor rows from governor.iowa.gov via us-davenport. Federal from CC0 @unitedstates legislators-current.json (retrieved 2026-11-01).
  • Municipal: City of Sioux City 'City Council' page (www.sioux-city.org/247; robots.txt group naming ClaudeBot disallows only admin/search/calendar/CivicAlerts/RSS/FAQ-type paths), retrieved 2026-11-01: Mayor Bob Scott; Mayor Pro Tem Julie Schoenherr; Councilmembers Craig Berenstein, Rick Bertrand, Ike Rayford — five members elected city-wide (the page does not label seats; 'At-Large' is used here). Terms from the Woodbury County Auditor 'Elected Officials: City' page: Scott and Schoenherr end 2027, Berenstein, Bertrand and Rayford end 2029 (4-year terms). That county page prints gmail/business addresses for Scott, Berenstein, Bertrand and Rayford — not copied; only Schoenherr's @sioux-city.org address is recorded. The county page's office phones not copied.
  • City election: none in 2026 (Iowa regular city elections are in odd-numbered years). Next: November 2027 — Mayor and the seat held by Schoenherr (terms ending 2027). Non-partisan.
  • standsFor null for everyone. No home addresses, phones or personal emails recorded. No web searches used for Sioux City.
