Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • Districts: Census Geocoder at City Hall (34.4208, -119.6982; coordinates only) gave Santa Barbara city, CD-24 (120th), SD-21 and AD-37 (2026 vintages). A 9x9 grid over -119.78..-119.63, 34.39..34.47 put 37 points inside the city: all 37 in CD-24, SD-21 and AD-37 on both the Current (2026/120th) and ACS2025 (2024/119th) vintages. Slivers narrower than the ~1.5 km grid spacing could be missed.
  • Candidates (federal and state): California Secretary of State 'Certified List of Candidates for the November 3, 2026, General Election', certified 2026-08-27, retrieved 2026-10-31 (elections.cdn.sos.ca.gov; robots.txt answers S3 'AccessDenied' 403, i.e. no file). The list marks state incumbents with '*', not federal ones. Party preference and ballot designation as printed; the list prints no addresses. SD-21 is not on the 2026 ballot. No U.S. Senate contest in 2026.
  • Municipal candidates: City Clerk 'Final List of Candidates, City of Santa Barbara – November 3, 2026 Election', dated August 17, 2026, linked from santabarbaraca.gov/government/city-hall/elections (which states Council called the election for District 4, District 5, District 6 and Mayor on June 16, 2026). The list prints mailing addresses and phones: none copied. Emails kept only where they are campaign-named or on a campaign domain; personal free-mail, a business address, a family-name domain and one malformed address were left out. Santa Barbara's municipal offices are non-partisan (party null).
  • Municipal officeholders: santabarbaraca.gov/government/mayor-city-council, retrieved 2026-10-31: Mayor Randy Rowse; District 1 Wendy Santamaria, 2 Mike Jordan, 3 Oscar Gutierrez, 4 Kristen Sneddon (Mayor Pro Tempore), 5 Eric Friedman, 6 Meagan Harmon. Portraits linked from the page (not copied); no reuse terms on the page. Sneddon and Friedman are sitting councilmembers running for Mayor (incumbent-running with runningFor Mayor). Rowse and Harmon are not on the candidate list. Next regular election for Districts 1, 2 and 3: November 2028 (four-year staggered terms) — inferred, not read from an official page.
  • Federal: house.gov Directory of Representatives (Carbajal row) and the CC0 @unitedstates legislators-current.json, both 2026-10-31. Senators Padilla (term to 2029) and Schiff (to 2031) from the CC0 dataset; senate.gov not used. State: senate.ca.gov/senators (Limón, D, District 21), assembly.ca.gov/assemblymembers (Hart, District 37, Democrat; official portrait linked), gov.ca.gov/about (Newsom).
  • Not recorded: Santa Barbara County supervisors and other county offices, school boards, judges, measures. standsFor null for everyone (no candidate statements read). Write-ins and primary losers excluded. No home addresses, phones or personal emails in any row.
  • Robots/terms: santabarbaraca.gov robots.txt (* group) disallows only Drupal system paths; geocoding.geo.census.gov and unitedstates.github.io have no robots.txt (404); house.gov, senate.ca.gov, assembly.ca.gov and gov.ca.gov robots allow the pages used. Nothing blocked for this city.
