Notes on this record
How the lists were read, and what could not be.
- Municipal: Mayor and 10 district Council Members. sanantonio.gov robots.txt disallows all crawlers (User-agent: * Disallow: /) and www.sa.gov (the city's current site) returns Akamai 'Access Denied' (403) to direct fetch, including robots.txt; neither was bypassed. The roster was read from the search-engine index of the City Clerk's official Elected Officials page (https://www.sa.gov/Directory/Departments/OCC/Archives-Records/History/Elected-Officials, term June 1, 2025 to May 31, 2027) and the sa.gov council district/biography pages; Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones took office 2025-06-18 after the 2025-06-07 runoff (City canvass report). No city photos or emails linked because sa.gov could not be fetched. Re-verify when sa.gov is reachable. San Antonio has no other city-wide elected office (city attorney, clerk and manager are appointed).
- Next San Antonio municipal election: the general election for Mayor and all 10 council seats is held in May of odd years (two-year terms, starting June 1) — next on Saturday 2027-05-01 (runoff in June 2027 if needed). No City of San Antonio offices are on the 2026-11-03 ballot.
- Congressional districts covering the city: Census TIGERweb polygons for San Antonio city (place 4865000) sampled on a 120x120 grid (5,498 points inside the city). 120th Congress map (the 2025 Texas map used for the 2026 election): TX-35 (38%), TX-20 (28%), TX-21 (18%), TX-23 (16%). 119th Congress map (the sitting members): TX-20, 23, 21, 28, 35. City hall (100 Military Plaza) is TX-20 in the Census geocoder. Slivers smaller than the grid spacing (~0.5 km) could be missed.
- Sitting U.S. Representatives from https://www.house.gov/representatives (Texas table), retrieved 2026-10-15. TX-23 is VACANT: Tony Gonzales resigned 2026-04-14 (Clerk of the House, https://clerk.house.gov/members/TX23/vacancy); the office is run by the Clerk. Henry Cuellar (TX-28) is on the November ballot for TX-28, which no longer covers San Antonio on the 2025 map; Greg Casar (TX-35) is on the ballot for TX-37 (not a San Antonio district on the 2025 map); Chip Roy (TX-21) is not on the general ballot. TX-21, TX-23 and TX-35 are open seats in 2026. Only the TX-20, 21, 23 and 35 races (2025 map) are listed as candidates; TX-28/TX-37 challengers are not.
- U.S. Senators (John Cornyn, Ted Cruz, both Republican): senate.gov returns HTTP 403 (also for robots.txt); not bypassed; names as in the merged Houston record from the search-index listing of https://www.senate.gov/states/TX/senators.htm. Cornyn is NOT on the November ballot; the Senate seat is open (Ken Paxton R, James Talarico D, Ted Brown L).
- State: Governor from the Texas SOS Statewide Elected Officials page (Greg Abbott, R, term expires 2026). City hall's state districts (SD-26, HD-123) from the Census geocoder 2026 state legislative layers; members from senate.texas.gov (José Menéndez, D, 'Senate Member: 2015 - present') and house.texas.gov/members/123 (Diego M. Bernal). Districts covering the city (same grid): Texas Senate 5 (SD-19, 26, 25, 21, 24) and Texas House 11 (HD-116 to 125 and a sliver of HD-53); only city hall's are listed per the brief.
- Candidates: Texas SOS Candidate Information (Civix 'goelect' public JSON endpoint findQualifiedCandidates, election 53815 '2026 NOVEMBER GENERAL ELECTION', office types FD and SR), retrieved 2026-10-15. Kept: filing status CG ('Candidate in the General Election') with declaration ACCEPTED; dropped: write-ins (party W) and rejected independent applications (e.g. Jade Simmons for U.S. Senate; Gerard Anthony Villalobos TX-20; Sarah Bowman Cunningham and Demetra Jefferson Wysinger for Governor). Names title-cased; printed form kept in ballotName/runningBallotName. The list carries mailing addresses and emails: not copied and deleted from the working copy. Websites only where the SOS list prints a campaign site. No standsFor captured.
- Unopposed: Texas House District 123 (Diego Bernal, only qualified candidate).
- Robots/terms: sanantonio.gov (robots.txt disallows all), sa.gov and senate.gov (403, not bypassed), house.gov (allows), clerk.house.gov (no robots.txt), sos.texas.gov (empty robots.txt), goelect.txelections.civixapps.com (no robots.txt; no terms shown), senate.texas.gov and house.texas.gov (allow member pages), geocoding.geo.census.gov and tigerweb.geo.census.gov (public Census services).
