Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • Port Charlotte is an unincorporated census-designated place (Census geocoder: Port Charlotte CDP, Port Charlotte CCD, Charlotte County) with no city government. Its local government is the Charlotte County Board of County Commissioners (five districts); Punta Gorda is the county's only city. NO county commissioners are recorded: www.charlottecountyfl.gov robots.txt has 'User-agent: ClaudeBot / Disallow: /' and 'User-agent: anthropic-ai / Disallow: /', so the commission page was not read; the Supervisor of Elections' 'Office Holders' and 'Local Candidates' pages are iframes from www.voterfocus.com, whose robots.txt answered HTTP 503 ('temporarily unavailable for maintenance') — treated as disallow, nothing used; dos.fl.gov answered robots.txt with HTTP 403. A web search (non-official) points to Christopher Constance (District 2) and Stephen R. Deutsch (District 4) as the commissioners whose terms end November 2026 — NOT recorded, as no official list could be read. Candidates for County Commission Districts 2 and 4 are therefore not recorded either.
  • Offices on the ballot: Florida Secretary of State 'Notice of General Election' for Charlotte County (files.floridados.gov/media/710250/2026_nge_cha_english.pdf, dated March 20, 2026; files.floridados.gov robots.txt answers HTTP 400 — no rules), retrieved 2026-11-01. Raw PDF deleted.
  • Candidates (federal and state): Florida Division of Elections Candidate Tracking System, 2026 General Election (elecid 20261103-GEN), Office Group ALL, Status 'ALL (except WIT/DNQ)', County = Charlotte, retrieved 2026-11-01 (no robots.txt — 404). Kept Qualified rows for U.S. Senate, FL-17, Governor (with running mates) and HD-75. Dropped Defeated, write-ins, Cabinet, State Attorney (Fox, unopposed), Public Defender (Smith, unopposed), judicial rows, and HD-76 (Oliver R inc v Carter D), which covers other parts of Charlotte County, not the CDP points sampled. Statewide rows (Senate, Governor, DeSantis, Scott) are the same names as in us-sarasota (2026-10-31) and were checked against the Charlotte list. Candidate detail pages (addresses) not opened.
  • Districts: Census geocoder at the /local centre (26.9915, -82.0809) returned Port Charlotte CDP, CD-17, SD-27 and HD-75. A 0.025-degree grid gave 12 points inside the CDP, all CD-17 / SD-27 / HD-75.
  • Federal officeholders from the CC0 @unitedstates legislators-current.json (retrieved 2026-11-01). Governor DeSantis row reused from the 2026-10-15 us-jacksonville reading (flgov.com disallows Claude agents). flsenate.gov/Senators/s27 (Crawl-delay 10 honoured) shows Senator Ben Albritton, Republican. flhouse.gov Representatives list shows Danny Nix Jr., Republican, District 75.
  • standsFor null for everyone. No home addresses, phones or personal emails recorded. One web search used (to look for an alternative official county-commission list; none found).
