Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • Municipal officeholders: City of Pleasanton Mayor & City Council page (read 2026-10-31): 'The City Council, comprised of the Mayor and four City Councilmembers'; district-based council, Mayor at-large; councilmembers four-year terms, Mayor two-year term; Vice Mayor chosen by the Mayor each year; eight-year term limits. Terms cross-checked on the Alameda County Registrar's Elected Officials page (script dated 'Updated - 03/30/2026'): Balch 2024-2026, Nibert 2023-2026, Eicher 2024-2028, Testa 2023-2026, Gaidos 2025-2028. No other city-wide elected office.
  • Municipal candidates: City Clerk 'Notice of Nominees for Public Office' (dated October 15, 2026): Mayor - Jack Balch, Julie Testa; District 1 - Vin Kruttiventi, Kathy Narum; District 3 - Jamie Yee, Reena Gupta. Same names on the City Clerk's Qualified Candidate List (updated 8/12/2026) and on the Registrar's Candidate List (General Election 11/03/2026, On Ballot, Filing Completed; read 2026-10-31). Julie Testa (District 3, term ends 2026) is running for Mayor; Jeff Nibert (District 1) is not on the ballot. Next municipal election after this: November 2028 (Mayor, two-year term, and Districts 2 and 4, by the terms above - inferred).
  • standsFor for all six municipal candidates quotes their own Candidate Statements as published by the City Clerk (candidate-statements-081226.pdf). Websites from the City Clerk's Qualified Candidate List; campaign-domain emails kept (Reena@ReenaforPleasanton.com, Jamie@JamieYee.com) and the campaign-named JackforPleasanton@gmail.com; vin.kruttiventi@gmail and narumkathy@gmail were left null as possibly personal. Phones on that list and addresses on the Registrar's list were not copied.
  • State/federal candidates: Alameda County Registrar Candidate List (same query): CA-14 Melissa Hernandez (D), Aisha Wahab (D); Governor Xavier Becerra (D), Steve Hilton (R); 16th Assembly District Rebecca Bauer-Kahan (D, Incumbent Y), Joseph A. Rubay (R). The CA SOS Certified List of Candidates (2026-08-27) is the statewide authority and is recorded as candidateList, but was not fetched here (its file host answered robots.txt with 403 to earlier agents). Senators Padilla and Schiff, Governor Newsom, Becerra, Hilton, Wahab and Hernandez rows are copied from us-hayward.json (same office / same CA-14).
  • Districts: Census geocoder at the Civic Center (200 OLD BERNAL AVE, matched at 37.658522, -121.878409; 123 Main St did not match): CA-14, SD-5, AD-16. A 6x6 grid (14 points inside 'Pleasanton city') was all CA-14 and SD-5, with AD-16 (10) and AD-20 (4); a coarse grid undercounts. Only the Civic Center's legislators are listed per the brief; AD-20 (Liz Ortega, incumbent-running vs Patricia Muga) also covers part of the city - see the Hayward record.
  • Robots/terms: www.cityofpleasantonca.gov (Yoast; generic rules allow these pages; Crawl-delay 10 honoured; terms page not read), alamedacountyca.gov (disallows only unrelated paths; the candidate list was read through the page's own search form, no terms accepted), www.assembly.ca.gov and www.senate.ca.gov (allow roster pages), geocoding.geo.census.gov (robots 404). Photos linked, not copied. Wikipedia, Ballotpedia and news not used.
