Pittsburgh: who represents it, and who is running

It elects governor and Lieutenant Governor (joint ticket); U.S. Representative for PA-12; state senators for the even-numbered districts covering the city, SD-38 and SD-42 (SD-43 is not up); every state House seat covering the city, HD-19, 20, 21, 23, 24, 27, 34, 36 and 38 (HD-19 contains city hall). No U.S. Senate seat is up in Pennsylvania in 2026 (Fetterman's term ends 2029, McCormick's 2031). No City of Pittsburgh offices on the ballot. The county lists its ballot questions at https://www.alleghenycounty.us/files/assets/county/v/4/government/elections/documents/ballot-questions-november-2026-general-election-8-19-2026.pdf.

Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • Municipal: Mayor (Corey O'Connor) from the City's Mayor biography page; City Controller (Rachael Heisler) from About the Controller, which says the Controller and Mayor are the city's only two independently elected city-wide offices; 9 district council members from pittsburghpa.gov City Council Districts (R. Daniel Lavelle is Council President). All read 2026-10-22. Council emails are the official @pittsburghpa.gov addresses printed on that page (none printed for District 6). The council page prints no party, so municipal party fields are null, not inferred. Allegheny County offices (County Executive, District Attorney, County Council) are county offices and are not included.
  • Candidates: Allegheny County Elections Division 'Unofficial Candidates List' for the 2026 General Election (xlsx dated 08/27/2026, linked from the Candidate and Municipality Resources page, read 2026-10-22). The county says the list 'will be updated as candidates continue to file'; it is the newest version linked. Names and parties are taken as printed. The list's 'Address 1' column (wards and towns) was not copied. The Pennsylvania Department of State's own certified list was not found.
  • Ballot for Pittsburgh voters: Governor/Lt Governor (Shapiro/Davis, Democratic; Garrity/Richey, Republican; Krawchuk/Thomas, Libertarian); PA-12 (Summer Lee, Democratic, incumbent; James Hayes, Republican). City hall's state seats: SD-42 Wayne D. Fontana and HD-19 Aerion Andrew Abney, both Democratic incumbents and both unopposed on the county list.
  • Districts covering the city (Census geocoder grid, 161 in-city points): congressional PA-12 only, every point; state Senate 38, 42 and 43; state House 19, 20, 21, 23, 24, 27, 34, 36 and 38. A 0.01-degree grid could miss slivers, so the House list is a minimum. As the brief asks, only city hall's state seats are recorded as people.
  • The /local centre (40.434928,-80.068359) is in Crafton borough, outside the city, and falls in PA-17, SD-42 and HD-27. PA-17 (Chris Deluzio) does not cover any sampled point inside Pittsburgh, so Deluzio and his opponent are not recorded. The /local centre should probably move into the city.
  • U.S. Senators: senate.gov answered robots.txt with HTTP 403 (Akamai), so the senators come from the CC0 @unitedstates congress-legislators dataset (legislators-current.json). tigerweb.geo.census.gov rejected the request at robots.txt ('Request Rejected'), so it was not used. Representatives come from house.gov/representatives, state members from palegis.us member lists, and Governor/Lt Governor from pa.gov.
  • Next City of Pittsburgh municipal election: Pennsylvania holds municipal elections in odd years, so the next general is November 2, 2027. Which council seats are up then was not checked on an official page. The Mayor and Controller serve four-year terms (per the Controller page).
  • No home addresses, phones or personal emails recorded. standsFor is null for everyone because no candidate statements were read. Write-ins and primary losers are excluded.
  • Reuse terms: pittsburghpa.gov states none (its Web Disclaimers page covers external links, privacy, security and translation only). alleghenycounty.us states none on the list. palegis.us and house.gov state none. Photos are linked, never copied.
