Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • Candidates: New Jersey Division of Elections official lists — US Senate (dated 07/27/2026) and House of Representatives (dated 09/04/2026) — cross-checked against the Essex County Clerk's 2026 General Election sample ballots (PDF created 2026-09-15; Newark styles 'CD8' and 'CD10 Comm 1/2/3'). Both agree on every name. The state lists print each candidate's address; none copied. Write-ins skipped.
  • Essex County offices on Newark's ballot (not recorded as people, as the level mapping has no county level): County Executive — Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. (Democratic), Maritza Mathews (Republican), Wynnie-Fred Victor Hinds (petition, 'LET'S WYNN THIS!'); Commissioners At Large (vote for 4) — Democratic: Christine McGrath, Abdur R. Yasin, Deborah Engel, Wayne Richardson; Republican: Demetrius Eley, Daniela Ferreira Almeida, Douglas Freeman, Sahwa DeFrank; district commissioner (Democratic only, no Republican nomination): D1 Wilson A. Pichardo, D2 A'Dorian Murray-Thomas, D3 Medinah Muhammad.
  • Municipal: Newark elects a Mayor and a 9-member Municipal Council (4 at-large, 5 wards) in nonpartisan elections every four years in May; the last was May 12, 2026, terms 7/1/2026–6/30/2030, so the next regular municipal election is May 2030. Council members, the Council President and official emails from newark.legistar.com (People list, read 2026-10-22; it also lists the appointed City Clerk, not recorded). Seats and the Mayor from the Essex County Clerk's May 2026 Newark results (Clarity ENR JSON, last updated 5/20/2026 with 169 of 173 districts). Party left null — the offices are nonpartisan.
  • Blocked or unreachable (not bypassed, no other user-agent or tool tried): www.newarknj.gov returned a Cloudflare 'Sorry, you have been blocked' page to robots.txt (civicplus.io); www.senate.gov returned HTTP 403 to robots.txt; the NJ Legislature (www.njleg.state.nj.us, www.njleg.gov, pub.njleg.gov) refused connections — state legislators therefore rest on the Division of Elections' certified 2023 Senate and 2025 Assembly results, and their current tenure was not confirmed on a member page.
  • U.S. Senators from the CC0 @unitedstates congress-legislators dataset; House members, districts and websites from house.gov/representatives (read 2026-10-22). Governor from nj.gov/governor. nj.gov's Legal Statement §F allows copying and distribution of State information unless otherwise stated. No standsFor recorded — no campaign statements were read.
  • Districts covering the city: 2 congressional (NJ-8, NJ-10) and 2 legislative (LD-28, LD-29), from a 2 km sampling grid on the Census geocoder; a district touching only a sliver of the city could be missed (NJ-11 was not hit).
