Murfreesboro: who represents it, and who is running

U.S. general election (federal and state offices); no City of Murfreesboro offices on this ballot votes on 2026-11-03. It elects governor (open; Bill Lee term-limited); U.S. Senator (Hagerty seat); U.S. Representative for TN-4 (only district found covering the city); Tennessee House seats (all 99 up, HD-34 at City Hall); odd-numbered Tennessee Senate seats (SD-13, which covers much of the city, is odd-numbered and so presumably up; SD-14 at City Hall is even-numbered and presumably not, by the 2024-2028 term of SD-22 in the Clarksville record — both unverified); three state constitutional amendments. No city offices: MTAS gives Murfreesboro's next election as 08-03-2028..

Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • Rutherford County Election Commission: both rutherfordcountytn.gov and ruco.vote robots.txt have a group naming ClaudeBot with 'Disallow: /', so the qualified-candidates list and sample ballot were NOT read. sos.tn.gov/govotetn.gov/tn.gov not tried (CloudFront 403 in earlier runs); capitol.tn.gov and wapp.capitol.tn.gov robots allow only named search bots ('User-agent: * Disallow: /'); murfreesborotn.gov returned a Cloudflare 'Attention Required' 403 on robots.txt, so nothing further was requested there.
  • Statewide Governor (15) and U.S. Senate (10) candidates, plus Bill Lee, Bill Hagerty and Marsha Blackburn, are copied from the us-clarksville record (Montgomery County Election Commission official lists, retrieved 2026-10-23); statewide contests are identical on every Tennessee ballot. Each copied row keeps its Montgomery County source and says so in its note.
  • Not recorded as people for want of a reachable official source: the sitting Tennessee Senator for SD-14 and Representative for HD-34, and every TN-4 / HD-34 general-election candidate. Unofficial sources (search results only: TNFirefly, Ballotpedia, iVoterGuide) indicate HD-34 incumbent Tim Rudd (R) is on the ballot, possibly against Owen Farnsworth (D); this is not used for any status.
  • Municipal: Mayor, Vice Mayor and five at-large council members from the MTAS directory (retrieved 2026-10-29), with official murfreesborotn.gov emails. Murfreesboro city elections are held in August of even years with the county general; news search results say the August 2026 city election re-elected McFarland and elected/re-elected Scales Harris, Averwater and Maxwell (not verified officially; MTAS lists all four in office). City Judge Ewing Sellers appears on MTAS but is not recorded (whether the post is elected was not confirmed). Next city election: 2028-08-03 (MTAS).
  • Districts: City Hall (111 W Vine St, geocoded -86.392875, 35.845014) is TN-4, SD-14, HD-34. A Census coordinate grid (12x10, 0.025 x 0.02 deg) returned only partial results: about 70 of 120 requests failed with 502 errors or timeouts. Of the points that did return, 11 fell inside 'Murfreesboro city': 120th-Congress TN-4 11/11; 2026 State Senate SD-13 8, SD-14 3; 2026 State House HD-48 5, HD-34 3, HD-37 2, HD-13 1. At least 2 senate and 4 house districts cover the city; the partial grid may miss others (the Census layer lists HD-13 here; check it). Only City Hall's districts are recorded.
  • counts: elected = people in office now (incl. incumbent-running); running = people on the 2026 ballot (incl. incumbent-running); unopposed unknown for district races (0 recorded).
  • Robots/terms: mtas.tennessee.edu (Drupal robots; directory allowed; content copyrighted, listing 'for general informational purposes only'), house.gov ('User-agent: *', /representatives allowed), geocoding.geo.census.gov (no robots.txt — 404; public Census service). Blocked/disallowed: rutherfordcountytn.gov, ruco.vote (ClaudeBot disallowed), capitol.tn.gov family (only named bots), murfreesborotn.gov (Cloudflare 403).
  • standsFor null for everyone. No street address in any person row; photos not recorded (city site unreachable). Wikipedia, Ballotpedia and news not used as a source for anyone's status.
