Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • Candidates: Montana Secretary of State candidate filing system (candidatefiling.mt.gov; no robots.txt — 404), election 'FEDERAL GENERAL 2026 (11/03/2026) (General)', Statewide view, 272 rows, read through the page's own 'Export to CSV' button on 2026-10-31. The CSV prints mailing addresses and phones: those columns were dropped on read and the raw file deleted. The 2026 primary list (same system) was read for primary outcomes (NOMINATED) and withdrawals (Daines). Write-in (Jami Dee Woodman, U.S. Senate, 'WRITE-IN') skipped. '*' on the list marks incumbents. sosmt.gov itself answered every page (not robots.txt) with a 'Firewall Event Triggered' block page — not retried. The Missoula County Elections page links the same state list.
  • Districts: City Hall (435 Ryman St) geocodes to CD-1, SD-50, HD-100. Census tab20_cd11920_place20_st30: all of Missoula city in MT-1. A 0.025-degree grid gave 17 city points: all CD-1; Senate Districts 45-50 and House Districts 89, 91, 92, 94, 96-100 cover parts of the city (at least). Other 2026 legislative races inside the city (e.g. SD-48 Andrea Olsen DEM unopposed; SD-49 Willis Curdy DEM v. Brad Tschida REP) are not person rows, per the brief's City Hall rule.
  • State legislators from the Montana Legislature's legislator directory feed (www.legmt.gov/wp-json/legmt/v1/people/legislators, the data behind www.legmt.gov/legislator/; legmt.gov robots.txt only sets Crawl-delay for GPTBot/meta; legislators.legmt.gov robots allows all). Official legmt.gov emails as printed; phones and P.O. boxes not copied. Governor from governor.mt.gov (the gov.mt.gov address redirected there; governor.mt.gov has no robots.txt).
  • Municipal: Mayor and the 12 council members (two per ward, six wards) from www.ci.missoula.mt.us (CivicPlus; its robots.txt has a ClaudeBot group that does not disallow these pages; Crawl-delay 10 honoured). Official ci.missoula.mt.us emails as printed. Missoula municipal elections are held in odd years (the County's 2025 news items cover the 2025 municipal primary); the next City general election is expected 2027-11-02 — not confirmed on an official page. City offices are non-partisan.
  • Federal officeholders from the CC0 @unitedstates legislators-current.json. No federal photos linked. standsFor null for everyone. No home addresses, phones or personal emails recorded; campaign-domain emails from the SOS list kept, free-mail ones dropped. Two web searches used only to locate lists; Green Papers/news not used as a source.
  • Process slip: the gov.mt.gov homepage request followed a redirect to governor.mt.gov before that host's robots.txt was requested; it was requested right after (404, no rules). The fetch helper was then changed to stop following redirects.
