Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • Candidates: Texas Secretary of State Election Results site for the 2026 November General Election (electionresults.sos.state.tx.us/results.html, page 'Election Results - Tuesday, November 3, 2026', 'Updated 10/14/2026 07:34 AM'), re-read 2026-10-31; robots.txt 404. It lists every federal and state race with candidates before polls open, '(I)' marking incumbents. The robots-disallowed goelect.txelections.civixapps.com was not touched. Write-ins skipped. Names title-cased from the all-caps listing; ballotName keeps the printed form.
  • Municipal: Mayor and six Council Members (two at-large, four districts) from https://www.midlandtexas.gov/238/Mayor-City-Council, retrieved 2026-10-31; official @midlandtexas.gov emails and the per-member portraits (linked) as printed; council photo alt text names the mayor's portrait. Non-partisan offices: party null. The City Secretary page (/148/City-Secretary) tabulates the elected officials with a 'Next Election Date' column: Stubbs (D1), Norman (D2), Poole and Burkholder (At-Large) November 2, 2027; Blong (Mayor), Ladd (D3), Stretcher Burkes (D4) 'November 4, 2025' (the column was not updated after that election; the page's 'General Election November 4, 2025' packet lists applications from Blong, Stretcher, Ladd, Blank, Garrett, Campbell and Williams). So Midland holds municipal elections in November of odd years; next: 2027-11-02 (D1, D2, both at-large seats). No City office on the 2026-11-03 ballot. Candidate applications not read (they can print home addresses).
  • Districts: Census geocoder (robots 404) at City Hall gave TX-11 (120th map), SD-31, HD-82. A 7x7 coordinate grid over 31.92-32.07 N, 102.23-101.98 W: 20 points inside 'Midland city', all in TX-11, SD-31 and HD-82. A point sample; a sliver district could be missed.
  • Sitting members: TX-11 from house.gov/representatives (robots allows; read 2026-10-31). U.S. Senators Cornyn and Cruz and Governor Abbott carried from the us-lubbock record (Texas Legislative Council and SOS Statewide Elected Officials, read 2026-10-22), not re-read. Senator Kevin Sparks from senate.texas.gov/member.php?d=31 (robots disallows /_assets, /bin, /kids, /hola, /tsn, /memberForm.php only; photo under /members/ linked, not copied). Rep. Tom Craddick from Texas Legislature Online (capitol.texas.gov member list and MemberInfo Code=A2610, robots allows /Members). Neither page prints party; Republican as on the SOS listing. house.texas.gov not used (robots disallows Claude agents per earlier runs).
  • Not recorded: Midland County offices, school board (Midland ISD), judges, Lieutenant Governor and other statewide offices. No home addresses, phones or personal emails recorded. standsFor null for everyone (no candidate statements read).
  • Robots/terms: www.midlandtexas.gov robots.txt has a group naming ClaudeBot (and other AI agents) that disallows admin/search/calendar/RSS/FAQ/bids-type paths only; Crawl-delay 10 honoured between page requests. Procedural note: /sitemap.xml was requested after robots.txt but before the ClaudeBot group's rules had been read in full; that group does not disallow it. Nothing was blocked for Midland.
