Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • Districts: Census geocoder at City Hall (CD-1, SD-4, HD-9) and an 8x8 grid over the city (33 points inside "Michigan City city") on the Current (120th / 2026 legislative) and ACS2025 (119th / 2024) vintages: every point in CD-1, SD-4 and HD-9 on both. Slivers below the ~1 km grid spacing could be missed.
  • Candidates: Indiana Election Division 2026 General Election Candidate List (Abbreviated, ALL COUNTIES, stamped 2026-09-22 01:12 PM), the only general list linked from https://www.in.gov/sos/elections/candidate-information/ on 2026-10-31. It prints ballot name, party, office and filed date only (no addresses). Write-ins excluded (IN-1: Alexander R (Alex) Degman, Write-In (Independent); one Write-In (Other)).
  • Municipal: Mayor from the Mayor's Office page, City Clerk from the City Clerk page, and the nine council members (six wards, three at-large) from the City Council page, all michigancityin.gov (www.emichigancity.com redirects there), retrieved 2026-10-31. The council page prints a phone number for each member; none copied. No official council emails printed (a "Contact Me" form only). Indiana municipal elections are partisan, but no party is printed on the city pages, so party is null. Next Michigan City municipal election: November 2027 (Indiana cities elect mayor, clerk and council in odd years; the 2026 state list has no Michigan City municipal office) — inferred from the Indiana cycle, not read from a 2027 city calendar.
  • Federal: Frank J. Mrvan (IN-1, D) from https://www.house.gov/representatives, 2026-10-31. Senators Todd Young and Jim Banks and Governor Mike Braun carried from the us-fort-wayne record (CC0 @unitedstates list; in.gov/gov), not re-read. No federal photos linked.
  • State legislators: SD-4 Rodney Pol from the Indiana Senate Democrats caucus page; HD-9 Randy Novak (selected by caucus Oct 2025 to replace Pat Boy) from a party press release and news found by search — both unofficial:true because iga.in.gov (the General Assembly roster) is a JavaScript app and was not read.
  • Not recorded: LaPorte County officers and council, Michigan City Area School Board (several candidates on the state list), township offices, judges. standsFor null for everyone (no candidate statements read). No home addresses, phones or personal emails recorded.
  • Robots/terms: michigancityin.gov and www.emichigancity.com (Yoast robots, User-agent * Disallow: empty), www.in.gov (User-agent *, nothing disallowed), indianasenatedemocrats.org (allows all), www.house.gov (allows /representatives), geocoding.geo.census.gov (robots 404). Nothing was blocked for this city.
