Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • Municipal: Mayor Daniel Alemán, Jr. and six Councilmembers (Districts 1-6, called Places 1-6 on the Elections page) from the City of Mesquite City Council page (www.cityofmesquite.com/131/City-Council), the Mayor page and each district page, retrieved 2026-10-29. Mayor Pro Tem Kenny Green (District 2); Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Elizabeth Rodriguez-Ross (District 3). All terms 'Expire: November 2027'. The council page says the City Council 'consists of the Mayor and six Councilmembers, all of whom are elected to serve two-year terms'; city health officer, auditor, municipal judge, city manager, city attorney and city secretary are appointed, so there is no other city-wide elected office. Offices are non-partisan. Official @cityofmesquite.com emails are those printed on each member page; the per-member phone numbers printed there were not copied. Photos are the member pages' own headshots (alt text names each member), linked only.
  • City elections: the City Elections page (www.cityofmesquite.com/152/Elections) says 'The City election, for the purpose of electing a Mayor and Councilmembers for Places 1 - 6, is held in odd-numbered years on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. The next election will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2027.' Elections are run jointly by Dallas County and Kaufman County. No City of Mesquite race on 2026-11-03.
  • Districts: city hall (the council meeting place named on the council page) geocoded by the Census geocoder to (-96.59929, 32.77361): Mesquite city, Dallas County, TX-5 on the 120th Congress layer (2025 Texas map used for 2026), State Senate District 16, State House District 107 (2026 layers). Districts covering the city: Census TIGERweb polygon for Mesquite city (place 4847892) sampled on a 120x120 grid (3,575 points inside) against the TIGERweb Legislative layers: 120th TX-5 3,575 (all); 119th (BAS 2026 layer) TX-5 2,972 / TX-32 603; Texas Senate (2026) SD-16 2,631 / SD-2 889 / SD-23 55; Texas House (2026) HD-113 2,018 / HD-107 1,149 / HD-4 405 / HD-112 3 (edge). The city also extends into Kaufman County. Only city hall's state districts are listed per the brief. The ACS2025 geocoder vintage answered 502, so the 119th layer was read from TIGERweb only.
  • Candidates: Texas Secretary of State Election Results site, 2026 NOVEMBER GENERAL ELECTION listing (electionresults.sos.state.tx.us/results.html, 'Updated 10/14/2026 07:34 AM'; robots.txt 404 = no rules), re-read 2026-10-29. Captured: U.S. Senate, TX-5, Governor, HD-107, and the Attorney General line for SD-16's sitting senator. No State Senator, District 16 race is on the listing. Write-in lines skipped. Names title-cased from the all-caps listing. Statewide officeholders and candidates (Cornyn, Cruz, Abbott, Paxton, Talarico, Brown, Hinojosa, Dixon), Gooden, Hockett, Julie Johnson and Linda Garcia rows are carried from the finished us-garland record (same official sources, retrieved 2026-10-22) and their ballot lines re-checked on the listing on 2026-10-29. Dallas County's dallascountyvotes.org (AWS WAF CAPTCHA per BRIEF-SOURCES), the Texas SOS candidate site goelect.txelections.civixapps.com and house.texas.gov (robots disallow ClaudeBot) were not used. Kaufman County election pages were not tried.
  • Open seats among those captured: U.S. Senate (Cornyn not on the ballot). Incumbents running: Lance Gooden (TX-5), Greg Abbott (Governor), Linda Garcia (HD-107, unopposed), Nathan Johnson (SD-16 senator, running for Attorney General). No standsFor captured.
  • Robots/terms: www.cityofmesquite.com (robots.txt names ClaudeBot in a group that disallows only admin, search, calendar, RSS, map, alert, bids, FAQ and login endpoints; council, member and election pages allowed; '*' Crawl-delay 10 honoured; the /privacy page renders no policy text and no terms-of-use page was found), electionresults.sos.state.tx.us (robots 404; no terms on the page), senate.texas.gov (allows member pages; disallows /_assets), geocoding.geo.census.gov (robots 404), tigerweb.geo.census.gov (robots.txt request answered by a firewall 'Request Rejected' page; REST query service answered, as for us-garland).
