Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • Candidates from the Texas Secretary of State Election Results listing for the 2026 November General Election (electionresults.sos.state.tx.us/results.html, header 'Updated 10/14/2026 07:34 AM'; robots.txt 404 — no rules; no terms printed). Races read: U.S. Senator — Ken Paxton (R), James Talarico (D), Ted Brown (L); U.S. Rep. District 15 — Monica De La Cruz (R, (I)), Bobby Pulido (D); U.S. Rep. District 28 — Tano E. Tijerina (R), Henry Cuellar (D, (I)), Marlón Durán (Green); Governor — Greg Abbott (R, (I)), Gina Hinojosa (D), Pat Dixon (L); State Rep. District 41 — Gary Groves (R), Julio Salinas (D), no (I). Names printed in capitals; given in normal case. Write-ins skipped. goelect and house.texas.gov not used (robots disallow Claude agents).
  • Districts from the U.S. Census geocoder (robots.txt 404) at city hall coordinates 26.2041, -98.2297: CD 28 (120th Congressional Districts layer), SD 20, HD 41. Other sampled points inside McAllen: 26.29,-98.26 / 26.26,-98.23 / 26.30,-98.22 → CD 15, SD 20, HD 41; 26.22,-98.27 and 26.23,-98.215 → CD 28, SD 20, HD 41. So two congressional districts (TX-15, TX-28) cover the city; SD-20 at every sampled point; HD-41 at every sampled McAllen point (HD-35 and HD-40 lie at its edges — Palmhurst and Pharr points — and may reach into the city; not confirmed). Several geocoder requests returned HTTP 502 and were not counted.
  • Mayor and City Commission from the City of McAllen City Commission page (www.mcallen.net/departments/commission; robots.txt 404 — no rules; the only policy link in the footer is a privacy-policy page with no reuse terms). Mayor elected at-large, six commissioners by single-member district, four-year staggered terms. Official city e-mail addresses are printed on that page; only the mayor's and District 1's were captured from the markup.
  • Municipal election: none on November 3, 2026. The City Secretary's City Elections pages show a May 2, 2026 Special Election (District 5 unexpired term; Michael Fallek now holds District 5) and the next regular election on May 1, 2027 for Commissioners of Districts 4, 5 and 6 (www.mcallen.net/departments/secretary/city-elections/general-election-2027).
  • Hidalgo County Elections (www.hidalgocounty.us; robots.txt allows /3522): the 'Sample Ballots 2026 General Election' page lists ballot styles by precinct and entity, but no row names the City of McAllen and the precinct lookup tool is marked 'under construction', so the city-hall precinct's sample ballot could not be identified; the SOS listing is the candidate source. County terms of use not located (footer links only County Administrative Policies and ADA Policy).
  • U.S. Senators from rws.capitol.texas.gov/api/GetSenators (robots.txt 404; party not printed). U.S. Representatives confirmed on www.house.gov/representatives (robots allows). State legislators from capitol.texas.gov member pages (robots.txt does not disallow /Members); TLO prints no party.
