Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • Districts: Census Geocoder at City Hall (23825 Stuart Ranch Rd) gives CD-32, SD-24, AD-42; a 10x10 coordinate grid over the city's bounding box put all 41 inside points in CD-32 (both the 120th-Congress layer and the ACS2025/119th layer), SD-24 and AD-42. Slivers narrower than the grid spacing could be missed.
  • Federal/state candidates: California Secretary of State 'Certified List of Candidates for the November 3, 2026, General Election' (dated 27 August 2026), read from the copy already fetched in this session (pol-11; elections.cdn.sos.ca.gov answers 403 to robots.txt so no new request was made). CA-32: Brad Sherman (D, 'United States Congressman/Dad') v Larry Thompson (R). SD-24: John M. Erickson (D) v Brian Goldsmith (D) — Ben Allen not on the list. AD-42: Deborah Klein Lopez (D, 'City Councilmember') v Ted Nordblum (R) — Jacqui Irwin not on the list. Governor: Xavier Becerra (D) v Steve Hilton (R).
  • Municipal: City Council page (malibucity.org/207/City-Council): Mayor Bruce Silverstein, Mayor Pro Tem Steve Uhring, Councilmembers Haylynn Conrad (all terms Nov 2024 - Nov 2028), Marianne Riggins and Doug Stewart (Nov 2022 - Nov 2026). Five members elected at large; council chooses mayor. Official @malibucity.org emails as printed on that page. 'As of 2016, the City's General Municipal Elections are held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November of each even-numbered year'; two four-year-term limit (MMC 2.08.040). Next municipal election after this one: November 2028.
  • City 2026 election: Election Information page (malibucity.org/190/Election-Information) and the City Clerk's Notice of Nominees (dated 9 Oct 2026, posted 22 Oct 2026): 'For Member of the City Council – Vote for Two: A. Sam Dibaei, Danny Smith, Doug Stewart, Marianne Riggins.' One qualified write-in (Jason Herz) is listed on the election page — skipped per the write-in rule.
  • standsFor: all four council candidates, quoted from their candidate statements (LA County Registrar-Recorder candidate-statement pages, as printed into the City Clerk's 'Candidate Statements' PDF; the PDF's text layer is font-garbled so the pages were read as rendered images). Riggins's statement is headed 'Incumbent'; Stewart's 'Councilmember/Business Owner'. Dibaei's statement gives www.DibaeiforCouncil.com, recorded as his website (not opened). apps.lavote.gov itself was not requested.
  • Robots/terms: malibucity.org robots.txt has a named group including ClaudeBot (Disallow /activedit, /admin, /search, /calendar.aspx, /faq.aspx etc. — not '/'); the '*' group has Crawl-delay: 10, honoured (10 s between requests). Pages read: /190/Election-Information, /207/City-Council, /178/Government, DocumentCenter 38838 and 38839. assembly.ca.gov and senate.ca.gov robots allow the member lists; geocoding.geo.census.gov and unitedstates.github.io have no robots.txt (404). No terms accepted. No home addresses, phones or personal emails recorded (the city page's phone numbers are not copied).
