Notes on this record
How the lists were read, and what could not be.
- Municipal: Mayor, City Attorney, City Controller and 15 Council Members from the 'Your Elected Officials' list at https://lacity.gov/government (retrieved 2026-10-15). City Hall is 200 N Spring St.
- City 2026 cycle (clerk.lacity.gov/clerk-services/elections/municipal-elections): Primary Nominating Election 2026-06-02 (Mayor, City Controller, City Attorney, ODD-numbered Council Districts 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15; LAUSD Board 2, 4, 6); General Municipal Election 2026-11-03 for the offices not decided in June: Mayor, City Attorney, Council Districts 3 and 9, plus 8 city measures. Candidates from the City Clerk's 'Certified List of Candidates' PDF for the general (retrieved 2026-10-15). Even-numbered districts are next elected in 2028 (primary) with the presidential cycle.
- Open city seats in November: City Attorney (incumbent Hydee Feldstein Soto not on the general list), CD-3 (Bob Blumenfield) and CD-9 (Curren D. Price, Jr.) - the incumbents are not on the general list. Mayor: incumbent Karen Bass vs Council Member Nithya Raman (CD-4). Winners of the June primary outright (Controller and the other odd districts) take office in December 2026; the sitting holders are listed as elected until then. The official June results (results.lavote.gov, a JavaScript app) were not read.
- cityclerk.lacity.org serves no robots.txt (404); lacity.gov and clerk.lacity.gov robots.txt allow these pages. lacity.gov pages carry '© Copyright 2026 City of Los Angeles. All rights reserved.' - photos are linked, not copied. The City Clerk also publishes a candidate statement/contact PDF; contact details not copied and no standsFor captured.
- LA municipal offices are non-partisan; party null / partyShort 'None'. Ballot designations (occupations) are recorded as printed in ballotDesignation.
- Congressional districts covering the city: Census TIGERweb polygon for Los Angeles city (place 0644000) sampled on a 120x120 grid (5,640 points inside the city) against the 119th Congress districts (current members; tigerWMS_ACS2025) and the 120th Congress districts (the 2026 map after Proposition 50; tigerWMS_Current). 119th: CA-27, 29, 30, 32, 34, 36, 37, 43, 44 (largest share CA-32). 120th: the same nine plus CA-26 (~150 points in the West San Fernando Valley). Slivers narrower than the grid spacing (~0.6 km) could be missed. City Hall (34.05368,-118.24283; the Census address matcher placed '200 N Spring St' on S Spring St, so coordinates were used) is CA-34, SD-26, AD-54.
- Sitting U.S. Representatives from https://www.house.gov/representatives (California table, retrieved 2026-10-15), cross-checked with the CC0 @unitedstates legislators-current.json; photos linked from clerk.house.gov. All ten are Democrats. Julia Brownley (CA-26) is not listed because her current (119th) district does not cover the city; she is not on the 2026 list (CA-26 open: Jacqui Irwin vs Sam Gallucci).
- U.S. Senators Alex Padilla (term to 2029) and Adam B. Schiff (term to 2031): senate.gov returned HTTP 403 (not bypassed); taken from the CC0 @unitedstates congress-legislators dataset. No U.S. Senate contest appears on the SOS certified list for 2026.
- Candidates (federal and state): California Secretary of State 'Certified List of Candidates for the November 3, 2026, General Election', certified 2026-08-27, retrieved 2026-10-15. California's top-two primary means both general candidates may share a party: CA-29, CA-34, CA-37 and SD-26 are Democrat-vs-Democrat. Incumbents running: Whitesides (27), Rivas (29), Friedman (30), Sherman (32), Gomez (34), Lieu (36), Kamlager-Dove (37), Waters (43), Barragán (44), Assemblymember Mark González (AD-54), Mayor Karen Bass. Party preference and ballot designation as printed. The SOS contact list (emails/phones) was not used.
- State: Governor Gavin Newsom from the Governor's Proclamation for the 2026 general (SOS PDF) - gov.ca.gov returned 403. Governor is an open seat: Xavier Becerra (Democratic) vs Steve Hilton (Republican). City Hall's districts: State Senate 26 (María Elena Durazo, from senate.ca.gov/senators; not on the 2026 list - Sara Hernandez vs Sarah Rascón) and Assembly 54 (Mark González, assembly.ca.gov/assemblymembers). Districts covering the city (same grid): 6 State Senate (SD-20, 24, 26, 27, 28, 35) and 13 Assembly (AD-40, 42, 43, 44, 46, 51, 52, 54, 55, 57, 61, 65, 66); only City Hall's are listed per the brief.
- Robots/terms: house.gov, senate.ca.gov, assembly.ca.gov, sos.ca.gov robots.txt allow these pages; elections.cdn.sos.ca.gov and cityclerk.lacity.org serve no robots.txt; tigerweb/geocoding.geo.census.gov are public Census services. No terms accepted, nothing requested, no logins. No home addresses, phones or personal emails recorded; standsFor null for everyone. Write-in candidates and primary losers excluded.
