Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • Municipal: Mayor, nine Council Members and three city-wide elected officials (City Attorney, City Auditor, City Prosecutor) from the City of Long Beach "Other Elected Officials" page (https://www.longbeach.gov/officials/other-elected-officials/); photos from https://www.longbeach.gov/officials/; retrieved 2026-10-22. City Hall is 411 W. Ocean Blvd. The City Manager and City Clerk are appointed and not listed.
  • City 2026 cycle: Primary Nominating Election 2026-06-02 for Mayor, City Attorney, City Auditor, City Prosecutor and Council Districts 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 (City Clerk candidates page and "List of OFFICIAL Candidates", updated 2026-04-24). The City Clerk cumulative report (https://www.longbeach.gov/globalassets/city-clerk/media-library/documents/elections/results/2026/2026-june-6---primary-nominating-election---cumulative-report; resolution declaring results RES-26-0116) shows every contest decided outright in June: Richardson (Mayor, 57.37%), Doud (Auditor, 70.53%), Zendejas (D1, 50.21%), Duggan (D3, 63.98%), Kerr (D5, 53.96%), Malauulu (D7, 74.12%, open seat), Ricks-Oddie (D9, 67.97%). City Attorney Dawn McIntosh and City Prosecutor Doug Haubert were sole candidates and appointed in lieu of election. So the City Clerk page's "November 3, 2026 – General Municipal Election" has no city office contests: the LA County Registrar candidate list for 11/3/2026 (updated 2026-10-16) contains no City of Long Beach office. Vivian Malauulu (D7-elect) is in notes only; Roberto Uranga remains the sitting D7 member until the new term in December 2026.
  • Next municipal election: the 2028 Primary Nominating Election for the even-numbered Council Districts 2, 4, 6 and 8 (Long Beach consolidates with the statewide primary; date not yet published by the City Clerk). Mayor and odd districts next in 2030.
  • Long Beach municipal offices are non-partisan; party null / partyShort "None". The City Clerk candidate list prints candidate phone numbers and personal emails; none were copied. Official @longbeach.gov office emails are recorded for the Mayor and council.
  • Districts covering the city: Census geocoder (geocoding.geo.census.gov, coordinates endpoint) sampled on a 14x14 grid over the city bounding box; 89 points fell inside "Long Beach city" (one request timed out). 2026 map (vintage Current_Current, 120th Congress after Proposition 50): CA-42 (70 pts), CA-44 (11), CA-41 (8, east Long Beach). 119th map (vintage ACS2025_Current): CA-42 (65), CA-44 (24). 2026 legislative districts: SD-33 (all 89); AD-69 (82) and AD-65 (7). Grid spacing is about 1.5 km, so slivers could be missed. City Hall: CA-42, SD-33, AD-69 on both vintages. TIGERweb robots.txt returned a "Request Rejected" page, so TIGERweb was not used. Per the brief only City Hall's state districts are listed; AD-65 (Mike Gipson, also listed by the City) is not.
  • Sitting U.S. Representatives from https://www.house.gov/representatives (California table: 42nd Garcia, 44th Barragan), cross-checked with the CC0 @unitedstates legislators-current.json; photos linked from clerk.house.gov. Ken Calvert (current CA-41, R) is not listed: his 119th district does not cover the city and he is not on the CA-41 ballot. Linda Sánchez (current CA-38) runs in the new CA-41 and is listed as running.
  • U.S. Senators Alex Padilla (term to 2029) and Adam B. Schiff (term to 2031) from the CC0 @unitedstates dataset and the City of Long Beach page; senate.gov not fetched. No U.S. Senate contest appears on the SOS certified list for 2026.
  • Candidates (federal and state): California Secretary of State "Certified List of Candidates for the November 3, 2026, General Election", certified 2026-08-27, retrieved 2026-10-22. Party preference and ballot designation as printed; "*" marks incumbents in legislative contests. Top-two primary: AD-69 is Democrat vs Democrat. Incumbents running: Garcia (CA-42), Barragán (CA-44), Lowenthal (AD-69). Open: Governor (Becerra vs Hilton), CA-41 on the new map (Sánchez vs Clemmons). SD-33 (Lena Gonzalez) is odd-numbered and not up. The SOS contact list (emails/phones) was not used.
  • Governor Gavin Newsom from the Governor's Proclamation (SOS PDF) and the City page. State Senator Lena A. Gonzalez (SD-33) from senate.ca.gov/senators; Assemblymember Josh Lowenthal (AD-69) from assembly.ca.gov/assemblymembers.
  • School and community college offices skipped per the brief (LBUSD Districts 1 and 5 were also decided in June; LBCCD Trustee Areas 1, 3 and 5 are on the county's November list).
  • Robots/terms: longbeach.gov robots.txt allows all paths used (it disallows named AI/search bots such as OAI-SearchBot and PerplexityBot, but not ClaudeBot or anthropic-ai, and not a plain research agent); sos.ca.gov robots.txt is empty (allow all); elections.cdn.sos.ca.gov robots.txt returns an S3 "AccessDenied" XML (no robots file published) and the PDF was taken from the link on the SOS 2026 general-election page; lavote.gov serves no robots.txt (404); house.gov, senate.ca.gov and assembly.ca.gov robots.txt allow these pages; geocoding.geo.census.gov serves none (404). One plain User-Agent throughout; no blocks hit except the TIGERweb robots rejection. No terms accepted, nothing requested, no logins. No home addresses, phones or personal emails recorded; standsFor null for everyone. Write-in candidates (April Ronay) and primary losers excluded.
