Notes on this record
How the lists were read, and what could not be.
- Municipal: Mayor from lincoln.ne.gov/City/Mayor and the 7 council members (4 districts, 3 at-large) from lincoln.ne.gov/City/City-Council/Council-Members, retrieved 2026-10-22; robots.txt read first (pages used are not disallowed). Official city emails and city-hosted profile photo URLs recorded (linked, not copied). Lincoln has no other city-wide elected office on the council page beyond mayor and council.
- Next City of Lincoln elections (council FAQ): district seats 'every four years in a non-partisan May election during the alternate odd years (2023, 2027, 2031, 2035)'; at-large seats in '2025, 2029, 2033, 2037'. Mayor: second term began May 2023, so next mayoral election 2027. Exact 2027 dates not read (Lancaster County Election Commissioner site unreachable).
- Federal: Senators and Rep. Mike Flood from the CC0 @unitedstates legislators-current.json; Flood confirmed on house.gov/representatives (Nebraska 1st). Census geocoder (coordinates lookup, not address) puts city hall in NE-1; all 56 sample points inside the Lincoln place polygon (a 64-point city-wide grid plus a 25-point central grid, place = 'Lincoln city') returned Congressional District 1, so NE-1 is the only district.
- State: city hall is in 2026 State Legislative District 27 (Sen. Jason Prokop, nebraskalegislature.gov, Crawl-delay 3 honoured). The same 56 in-city sample points fell in 9 legislative districts: 27, 46, 21, 29, 26, 25, 28, 30, 2 (point-count order) — a sample, so a small district (e.g. LD-32) could be missed. Only LD-27's senator is recorded. Governor and Lt. Governor from governor.nebraska.gov / ltgov.nebraska.gov.
- Candidates: Nebraska Secretary of State 'Final Statewide General Candidate List', November 3, 2026 General Election, dated 9/11/2026 (PDF), retrieved 2026-10-22. Captured: U.S. Senate (5), Congress District 01 (4), Governor and Lt. Governor (4 joint tickets, one row each). The list prints mailing addresses and phones — none copied; only campaign-domain emails kept. Party as printed; 'By Petition' (Dan Osborn) recorded partyShort 'Independent'. No contest in scope has a single candidate. Lincoln-area Legislature contests on the list (not captured, outside city-hall scope): LD-26 Dungan (incumbent) v Howard; LD-28 Pansing Brooks v Woodson; LD-46 Conrad (incumbent, sole name on the list); LD-2 Helmick v Knutson; LD-30 Ideus v Bock.
- Blocked / not used: lancaster.ne.gov (Lancaster County Election Commissioner) answered a Cloudflare 'Attention Required' page even to robots.txt — not retried, so no county candidate list or sample ballot was read. tigerweb.geo.census.gov answered 'Request Rejected' to robots.txt — not used; district coverage was sampled through the geocoder instead. nominatim.openstreetmap.org robots disallows /search and /reverse — not used.
- Robots/terms: lincoln.ne.gov (robots read; Site Disclaimer is browsewrap, no copyright/reuse terms), sos.nebraska.gov (robots read; /sites/default/files allowed), nebraskalegislature.gov, governor.nebraska.gov, ltgov.nebraska.gov, house.gov (robots read), unitedstates.github.io (no robots.txt; CC0), geocoding.geo.census.gov (no robots.txt, 404). No home addresses, phones or personal emails recorded. standsFor null for everyone (no candidate statements read).
