Lake Charles: who represents it, and who is running
U.S. general election (federal, state and parish offices) votes on 2026-11-03. It elects on the Calcasieu ballot in Lake Charles: U.S. Senator (Cassidy seat; nominees per the Louisiana SOS list as read for the New Orleans record: Jamie Davis-D, Julia Letlow-R) and U.S. Representative LA-3, plus local offices the Calcasieu Clerk of Court qualified 5-7 August 2026 (its page: 'QUALIFIED CANDIDATES for Election On Nov 3, 2026'; the list itself could not be read). No Governor or state legislative seat is on the November 3 ballot (next regular state election 2027). Whether any Lake Charles city office is on this ballot could not be confirmed from an official list; the Mayor and Council were not found on any official 2026 notice read..

Notes on this record
How the lists were read, and what could not be.
- CANDIDATE GAP: the official Louisiana candidate lists are the Secretary of State's (www.sos.la.gov robots 'Disallow: /'; voterportal.sos.la.gov disallows /CandidateInquiry/Parish/ and /Statewide/) and, for local races, the Calcasieu Clerk of Court. Neither SOS host was fetched. The Clerk's 'Qualified Candidates' page (www.calcasieuclerk.gov/qualified-candidates, robots allows all) was read: it says candidates qualified 5, 6 and 7 August 2026 for the Nov 3, 2026 election and links a 'PHOTO DIRECTORY of Qualified Candidates (FINAL LIST: Updated 4:45pm FRIDAY Aug 6th, 2026)' PDF. Both PDF links redirect to the Wix file host 0fed7ada-ffd6-448a-9d77-f7f552b92923.filesusr.com, which answers robots.txt with HTTP 403 'Forbidden', so the PDFs were not fetched. The page itself names no candidates. So LA-3 candidates and local candidates are NOT recorded; Clay Higgins stays 'elected'.
- U.S. Senate candidates (Jamie Davis, Julia Letlow) and Senators Cassidy and Kennedy and Governor Landry are copied from the New Orleans and Baton Rouge records (statewide offices). The New Orleans Senate-candidate rows came from voterportal.sos.la.gov data paths (flagged to Jim 2026-10-22; Jim ruled keep). This agent did not fetch voterportal.
- Districts: Census geocoder at City Hall (326 PUJO ST, matched at 30.227716, -93.216996): 120th Congressional District 3, 2026 State Senate District 27, 2026 State House District 34; the ACS2025 vintage (119th CD, 2024 legislative layers) gives the same CD-3 / SD-27 / HD-34. A 6x6 grid over the city (15 points inside 'Lake Charles city') was all CD-3 and found Senate districts 27 (10) and 25 (5) and House districts 34 (8), 35 (3), 36 (3) and 47 (1); a coarse grid undercounts small districts. Only City Hall's legislators are listed.
- Municipal: Mayor Marshall Simien, Jr (Mayor's Office page) and seven council members, Districts A-G, from the City Council page (www.cityoflakecharles.com/171/City-Council, read 2026-10-31; Stuart Weatherford President, Ronnie Harvey, Jr. Vice President). No other city-wide elected office was found on the pages read; Lake Charles City Court judges and the City Marshal are not included (judicial / state-created), matching the Baton Rouge and Shreveport records. Next city election: not read from an official source (the council contact sheet is dated 07/02/25, consistent with a term that began in 2025, but that is an inference only).
- Privacy: the council contact sheet PDF prints members' home street addresses and phones; none were copied and the downloaded PDF was deleted. Only the shared official address citycouncil@cityoflc.us and official @legis.la.gov addresses are recorded. No standsFor (no candidate statements read). Wikipedia, Ballotpedia and news were not used for any status.
- Robots/terms: www.cityoflakecharles.com (robots names ClaudeBot in an AI-crawler group that repeats the site-wide disallows plus calendar/alerts/bids/faq endpoints; the pages read are allowed; Crawl-delay 10 in the '*' group honoured), senate.la.gov and house.louisiana.gov (allow member pages), www.calcasieuclerk.gov (Allow: /), clerk.house.gov and geocoding.geo.census.gov (robots 404). Blocked: filesusr.com (robots 403), www.kplctv.com (robots disallows the news article path; not needed). Not fetched: www.sos.la.gov, voterportal.sos.la.gov. Photos linked, not copied.
