Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • CANDIDATE GAP: U.S. Senate and U.S. House candidates qualify with the Secretary of State (per the Clerk's page); www.sos.la.gov (robots 'Disallow: /') and voterportal.sos.la.gov (disallows /CandidateInquiry/Parish/ and /Statewide/) were not fetched. The Clerk's 'Qualifying Information' page (www.lpclerk.com/qualifying-information) reads 'There is no qualifying information at this time' and no qualified-candidate list or sample ballot is posted there (/sample-ballots returned 404). So LA-3 candidates are NOT recorded and Clay Higgins stays 'elected'. City Court judges / Marshal and school board races are not captured (judicial / school, outside the brief).
  • U.S. Senate candidates (Jamie Davis, Julia Letlow), Senators Cassidy and Kennedy and Governor Landry are copied from the New Orleans and Baton Rouge records (statewide offices). The New Orleans Senate-candidate rows came from voterportal.sos.la.gov data paths (flagged to Jim 2026-10-22; Jim ruled keep). This agent did not fetch voterportal.
  • Districts: Census geocoder at City-Parish Hall (705 W UNIVERSITY AVE, matched at 30.221103, -92.024161): 120th Congressional District 3, 2026 State Senate District 23, 2026 State House District 45. A 6x6 grid over the city (18 points inside 'Lafayette city') was all CD-3 and found Senate districts 23 (8), 24 (7), 22 (3) and House districts 44 (6), 43 (5), 45 (4), 31, 39 and 96 (1 each); a coarse grid undercounts small districts. Only City Hall's legislators are listed.
  • Municipal: Lafayette has a consolidated city-parish government (Home Rule Charter): a parish-wide Mayor-President and separate five-member Lafayette City and Lafayette Parish Councils, 'each consisting of five (5) members elected from single-member districts for four-year terms' (Councils page). The Mayor-President and the five City Council members are recorded; the Parish Council is not (it governs the parish, not the city). The council pages describe the 2023-elected terms ('newly-elected for his first term' etc.); the next Mayor-President and council election is not on the 2026 Clerk list and, by four-year terms, would be autumn 2027 (inferred, not read from an official notice).
  • Emails are official @lafayettela.gov addresses printed on the council and Mayor-President pages, and @legis.la.gov for legislators. No home addresses, phones or personal emails recorded; standsFor null (no candidate statements). Wikipedia, Ballotpedia and news were not used for any status.
  • Robots/terms: www.lafayettela.gov (Disallow only /bin/, /config/, /install/, /umbraco/, /views/, /sandbox/; the site's cookie banner was not accepted), www.lpclerk.com (Squarespace; ClaudeBot/anthropic-ai share the '*' group, which allows these pages), senate.la.gov and house.louisiana.gov (allow member pages), clerk.house.gov and geocoding.geo.census.gov (robots 404). Not fetched: www.sos.la.gov, voterportal.sos.la.gov. Photos linked, not copied.
