Notes on this record
How the lists were read, and what could not be.
- Districts: Census Geocoder at City Hall (601 E Main St) gives TN-1, SD-3, HD-7. A 12x12 coordinate grid over 36.24-36.42 N, 82.25-82.52 W returned 38 points inside 'Johnson City city', no errors: TN-1 38/38 (120th-Congress and ACS2025 layers), SD-3 38/38, HD-6 21 and HD-7 17. Both House districts are recorded. Johnson City extends into Carter and Sullivan counties; slivers there may lie in other House districts (not sampled finely).
- Candidates: Washington County Election Commission Official Ballot (sample) for the November 3, 2026 State and Federal General Election (TNWASG26 Rev B), linked from wcecoffice.com. Party labels as printed ('Republican Party Nominee', 'Democratic Party Nominee', 'Independent Candidate'). Statewide lists match the us-clarksville / us-murfreesboro records (Governor 15 incl. Blackburn; U.S. Senate 10). Write-in lines skipped. The ballot prints no addresses.
- Sitting state legislators: capitol.tn.gov / wapp.capitol.tn.gov robots allow only named search bots, and sos.tn.gov has answered CloudFront 403 in earlier runs, so the legislators' status is taken from the Washington County Election Commission's official results (2022 SD-3; 2024 HD-6, HD-7), and each is again the party nominee on the 2026 ballot.
- Municipal: five-member commission elected at large, staggered (2 seats in 2022/2026, 3 in 2024/2028); the commission picks the mayor. MTAS directory (read 2026-11-01): Mayor Greg Cox; Commissioners Jenny L. Brock, Todd Fowler, Joe Wise, and one VACANT seat (former Mayor John Hunter's — he resigned; news reports Whitney Goetz was appointed to it, not confirmed officially). The city's own site (johnsoncitytn.org, no robots.txt — 404) was read at the home and government index pages but no commission roster page was found. 2026 commission ballot: 10 candidates for two seats. The city also held an August 6, 2026 municipal general election for Juvenile Court Judge only (Washington County notice). Next commission election after this one: November 2028.
- standsFor null for everyone (no candidate statements located on official pages).
- Robots/terms: wcecoffice.com ('User-agent: * Disallow:', Crawl-delay 10 honoured), mtas.tennessee.edu (Drupal robots; directories allowed), clerk.house.gov, johnsoncitytn.org and geocoding.geo.census.gov (no robots.txt). Search results (WJHL, WCYB, Times News) used only to find the lists. No home addresses, phones or personal emails recorded (the Election Commission's office phone is not copied).
