Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • Candidates: Mississippi SOS statewide composite sample ballot for November 3, 2026 (PDF, "Sample Ballot 9-9-26", fetched 2026-10-31; www.sos.ms.gov robots allows /content/documents/). Ballot labels "Democrat"; partyShort normalised to Democratic. Write-ins skipped. Forrest and Lamar County circuit clerk pages were not read, so any county-only items are not captured. The SOS Candidate Qualifying List page itself was not re-read in this run (cited as in the us-gulfport/us-jackson records).
  • Districts: Census geocoder (robots 404) City Hall match "200 FORREST ST, HATTIESBURG, MS, 39401" (-89.29065, 31.32565): Forrest County, CD-4, SD-45, HD-102. 7x7 grid over 31.24-31.40 N, 89.25-89.45 W (16 points inside "Hattiesburg city"): CD-4 on every point; State Senate 45 (14) and 44 (2); State House 103 (7), 102 (3), 101, 87 and 90 (2 each). So 2 Senate and at least 5 House districts cover the city; only City Hall's are recorded. From the member records: SD-44 John A. Polk (R) [Chris Johnson's record also prints District 44]; HD-101 Kent McCarty (R), HD-103 Percy W. Watson (D), HD-87 Joseph Tubb (R), HD-90 Noah Sanford (R) — not recorded as rows.
  • State legislators: Mississippi Legislature member XML on billstatus.ls.state.ms.us (no robots.txt), all 52 Senate and 122 House member records read 2026-10-31 to find districts; www.legislature.ms.gov (no robots.txt) FY26 Senate member cards used to resolve the District 45 seat (DuPree, "2026-present"). The XML gives email user names only (no domain), so emails are left null. Phones and P.O. boxes not copied.
  • Federal: Ezell from house.gov/representatives (robots allows); senators from the CC0 @unitedstates legislators-current.json (Hyde-Smith to 2027-01-03, Wicker to 2031-01-03); senate.gov not used. Governor Reeves carried from the sibling Mississippi records.
  • Municipal: Mayor Toby Barker (hattiesburgms.com/tobybarker/) and the five ward council members (hattiesburgms.com/council/ and /council/ward1-5/), retrieved 2026-10-31; robots.txt disallows only /wp-admin/. Mayor-Council government since 1985; council "term of four years and is classified as a part-time position." No council member emails are printed (only info@ and the council clerk's office address); none recorded. Photos linked, not copied. Next municipal general election: 2029 on the four-year cycle (last held 2025) — inferred, not read from an official page.
  • Not recorded: Forrest/Lamar County offices, school board, judges. No home addresses, phones or personal emails. standsFor null for everyone. Ballotpedia, Wikipedia and news not used. Nothing blocked.
