Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • Municipal: greensboro-nc.gov returned an Akamai 'Access Denied' (HTTP 403) to curl with default and browser user-agents and to WebFetch, for robots.txt and every page tried — not bypassed. The Mayor and eight Council Members are therefore taken from the NCSBE official 2025 municipal general-election precinct results (results_pct_20251104.zip, Guilford County, 'CITY OF GREENSBORO MAYOR' / 'CITY COUNCIL AT-LARGE' (vote for 3) / 'DISTRICT 01'-'05') and marked "unofficial": true because no current City roster was read. A search-result snippet of a January 2026 City meeting notice lists the same nine names and Denise Roth as Mayor Pro Tem; that document itself could not be opened. Greensboro is council-manager with non-partisan elections; City Manager, Attorney and Clerk are appointed, so there is no other city-wide elected office.
  • City of Greensboro elections: the NCSBE 2026 all-contest list for Guilford has no City of Greensboro contest. The last municipal general election was 2025-11-04 and Greensboro council and mayoral terms are four years (2015 referendum, effective 2017, per news coverage and Ballotpedia — not confirmed on the blocked City site), so the next municipal general election is expected in November 2029. Not verified against an official calendar.
  • Congressional districts covering the city: Census TIGERweb polygon for Greensboro city (place 3728000) sampled on a 120x120 grid (5,383 points inside the city) against the 120th Congress districts: NC-5 (3,616 points), NC-6 (1,138), NC-9 (629). All three sitting members (house.gov directory, retrieved 2026-10-22) are on the 2026 general list for their seats. Slivers under ~0.3 km could be missed.
  • State legislative districts covering the city by the same grid (2026 layers): Senate 26 (853), 27 (1,806), 28 (2,724); House 57 (1,527), 58 (1,054), 59 (592), 60 (5 points, sliver), 61 (1,032), 62 (1,173). Only city hall's districts (SD-28, HD-61) are recorded as people, per the brief.
  • State officeholders: ncleg.gov and governor.nc.gov were blocked in earlier NC runs (Cloudflare / Access denied) and were not re-tried around a block. Governor Josh Stein (D), SD-28 Gladys A. Robinson (D) and HD-61 Mary Price (Pricey) Harrison (D) are taken from the NCSBE official 2024 general-election precinct results and marked "unofficial": true. Both legislators are UNOPPOSED on the 2026 general list.
  • Candidates: NC State Board of Elections '2026 General Candidate List by Contest — Federal and State Only' (PDF, S3 Last-Modified 2026-10-13; header: Election 11/03/2026, all counties), cross-checked with the all-contest version's Guilford section. 'Name on Ballot' is used as name; the list's legal name is kept in ballotName; party codes in ballotParty. Addresses printed on the list were not copied. Write-ins and primary losers excluded.
  • U.S. Senate 2026: open seat: Michael Whatley (REP), Roy Cooper (DEM), Shannon W. Bray (LIB), Michael Dublin (GRE). House: NC-5 Virginia Foxx (R, inc.) vs Chuck Hubbard (D), Robert B. Luffman (L); NC-6 Addison McDowell (R, inc.) vs Cyril Jefferson (D); NC-9 Richard Hudson (R, inc.) vs Richard N. Ojeda II (D).
  • U.S. Senators from the CC0 @unitedstates legislators-current.json (Tillis term ends 2027-01-03, Budd 2029-01-03). No photos linked (City photos unreachable; no federal photo pages read).
  • Robots/terms: house.gov, ncsbe.gov and guilfordcountync.gov robots.txt allow (standard Drupal); s3.amazonaws.com dl.ncsbe.gov files are the public NCSBE downloads; geocoding.geo.census.gov and tigerweb.geo.census.gov public Census services; unitedstates.github.io CC0. Blocked, not bypassed: greensboro-nc.gov (Akamai 403). No home addresses, phones or personal emails recorded. standsFor null for everyone. Wikipedia, Ballotpedia and news used only for the next-municipal-election note, never for anyone's status.
