Notes on this record
How the lists were read, and what could not be.
- Sitting city officials from the San Diego County Registrar of Voters 'Directory of Public Officials' (dated 3/2026): Mayor Dane White (2022-2026), Council District 1 Consuelo Martinez (Deputy Mayor, 2022-2026), District 2 Joe Garcia (2022-2026), District 3 Christian Garcia (2024-2028), District 4 Judy Fitzgerald (2024-2028), City Treasurer Douglas Shultz (2024-2028, elected). City Attorney, City Clerk and City Manager are appointed. escondido.gov was not opened (the county directory sufficed); changes since March 2026 would not show. No city photos recorded.
- City 2026 cycle: Escondido holds its regular municipal election in November of even years (ROV directory). On the November 3, 2026 ballot: Mayor (White vs Elias Velazquez), District 1 open seat (Tanner Horsley vs Vanessa Valenzuela; Martinez not on the list), District 2 (Joe Garcia vs Anthony DiMartino). Districts 3, 4 and the Treasurer are next elected November 2028. City offices are non-partisan: party null / partyShort 'None'.
- Candidates: County of San Diego Registrar of Voters 'Candidate List', November 3, 2026 General Election (report R740.03, run 2026-08-28 4:17 PM); every name used shows Qualified for Ballot = YES; ballot designations as printed; no addresses, phones or emails copied. The CA Secretary of State file host was not fetched (robots.txt 403 seen earlier). No contest used here is unopposed.
- Districts: Census TIGERweb polygon for Escondido city (place 0622804) sampled on a 150x150 grid (8,970 points inside the city): 2026 map (120th Congress) CA-48 3,384 / CA-50 5,586; 119th Congress map CA-48 4,919 / CA-50 4,051; every point in SD-40 and AD-76 (2026 lines). City Hall by coordinates (33.1224, -117.0868): Census geocoder gives CD-48 (120th), SD-40, AD-76; the 119th polygon puts that point in CA-50. Slivers narrower than ~0.12 km could be missed. tigerweb.geo.census.gov answers robots.txt with a WAF 'Request Rejected' page and geocoding.geo.census.gov with 404; both are public Census query services.
- Federal: Issa (CA-48) and Peters (CA-50) are both listed as sitting members because both 119th-Congress districts cover part of the city. Issa is not on the county's November list; CA-48 (2026 map) is Jim Desmond (R) vs Marni von Wilpert (D). CA-50: Peters (D) vs Steve Cohen (R). Senators Padilla (2023-2029) and Schiff (2025-2031) from the ROV directory; not up in 2026. Federal and state officeholders taken from the ROV directory rather than house.gov / senate.ca.gov / assembly.ca.gov to save requests; photoUrl left null.
- State: Governor Newsom (term-limited, 2023-2027) - open seat Xavier Becerra (D) vs Steve Hilton (R). SD-40: Brian W. Jones (R, 2022-2026) is not on the list - Kristie Bruce-Lane (R) vs Mara Elliott (D). AD-76: Darshana R. Patel (D) vs Carrie S. Espinoza Villanueva (R). Only City Hall's legislative districts are listed; the grid found no other in the city.
- standsFor is null for everyone (candidate statements not read). Robots: sdvote.com disallows only /voters/ (not used). No terms accepted, no logins, nothing requested. Write-ins and primary losers excluded. No street address recorded anywhere.
