Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • Municipal: Mayor and 14 Council Members from https://dallascityhall.com/government/Pages/city-council.aspx, the Mayor's page and each district page, retrieved 2026-10-15 (robots.txt allows /government/ pages). Mayor Pro Tem Jaime Resendez (District 5); Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Maxie Johnson (District 4). Dallas is a council-manager city; the City Manager, City Attorney, City Auditor and City Secretary are appointed by council, not elected, so no other city-wide elected office. Dallas municipal offices are non-partisan.
  • Next Dallas municipal general election: May 2027 (Texas uniform election date, first Saturday in May = 2027-05-01; council and mayor elected in May of odd years, runoffs in June). No City of Dallas offices on the 2026-11-03 ballot.
  • Council photos linked only where the district page carries a clear headshot (Districts 4, 6, 7, 11, 13, 14 and the Mayor); other district pages show no portrait in the served HTML.
  • Congressional districts covering the city: Census TIGERweb polygon for Dallas city (place 4819000) sampled on a 160x160 grid (11,120 points inside the city) against the 119th Congress districts (current members) and the 120th Congress districts (the 2025 Texas map used for the 2026 election). 119th: TX-3, 4, 5, 6, 24, 30, 32, 33 (largest 30, 32, 33). 120th: TX-3, 4, 5, 6, 24, 26, 30, 32, 33 (largest 33, 30, 32; TX-6 only 4 grid points, TX-26 69). The union of both (nine) is listed. Slivers smaller than the grid spacing (~0.3 km) could be missed. City hall is TX-33 on the 120th layer of the Census geocoder.
  • Sitting U.S. Representatives from https://www.house.gov/representatives (Texas table), retrieved 2026-10-15. house.gov lists no photos; congress.gov/bioguide not used (disallowed to this crawler per the Houston run), so no federal photos are linked.
  • U.S. Senators (John Cornyn, Ted Cruz, both Republican): senate.gov returns HTTP 403 (Akamai) even for robots.txt; not bypassed. Carried from the merged us-houston record (read from the search-index listing of https://www.senate.gov/states/TX/senators.htm). Re-verify when senate.gov is reachable. Cornyn is NOT on the November ballot (Republican nominee for his seat: Ken Paxton, per the SOS list).
  • State: Governor from the Texas SOS Statewide Elected Officials page (Greg Abbott, R, term expires 2026), retrieved 2026-10-15. City hall's state districts (SD-23, HD-114, from the Census geocoder 2026 state legislative layers) and their members from senate.texas.gov/member.php?d=23 (Royce West, party printed 'Democrat') and house.texas.gov/members/114 (John Bryant; the page does not print party — Democratic per the SOS candidate list). Districts covering the city by the same grid: 5 Texas Senate (SD-2, 8, 12, 16, 23) and 18 Texas House districts (4, 33, 65, 70, 89, 100, 102, 103, 104, 107, 108, 109, 110, 111, 112, 113, 114, 115); only city hall's are listed per the brief. SD-23 is not on the 2026 ballot (not in the SOS list's state senate seats).
  • Candidates: Texas SOS Candidate Information (Civix 'goelect' app; public JSON endpoint /api-ivis-cbp/api/cbp/findQualifiedCandidates, election 53815 '2026 NOVEMBER GENERAL ELECTION', office types FD and SR), retrieved 2026-10-15. Kept: filing status CG ('Candidate in the General Election'), party not W; dropped: write-ins (e.g. Michelle Craig TX-33; several U.S. Senate and Governor write-ins) and rejected independent applications (Jade Simmons U.S. Senate; Sarah Bowman Cunningham and Demetra Jefferson Wysinger for Governor). Names title-cased from the capitalised list, printed form kept in ballotName. The list includes mailing addresses and emails: stripped on download, not copied. No candidate websites or standsFor captured.
  • Open seats on the 2026 ballot (incumbent not on the SOS general list for that seat): U.S. Senate (Cornyn), TX-30 (Crockett), TX-32 (Julie Johnson), TX-33 (Veasey). Unopposed: none among the seats captured.
  • Robots/terms: dallascityhall.com (robots allows /government/; no reuse licence stated), house.gov (allows), sos.texas.gov (robots.txt empty), goelect.txelections.civixapps.com (robots.txt 404; no terms shown on the candidate page), senate.texas.gov / house.texas.gov (allow member pages), geocoding.geo.census.gov / tigerweb.geo.census.gov (public Census services; no robots.txt served). Photos are linked, not copied.
