Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • Municipal: Mayor and the ten Councilors (Districts 1-8 plus District 9 and District 10 at-large) are Columbus Consolidated Government offices (city and Muscogee County merged in 1971) and are nonpartisan, so party null, partyShort 'None'. Sitting members from columbusga.gov/council and each district page, retrieved 2026-10-22; official columbusga.org emails only — the district pages print phones and, for some members, a street address, neither copied. The Elections office's Incumbents page (columbusga.gov/elections/Elected-Officials-Candidate/Incumbents) is stale for D1 (Bryon Hickey) and D9 (John Anker); the council page wins.
  • 2026 municipal elections (already decided): candidates from Muscogee Elections' '2026 Qualified Candidates' PDF (Last-Modified 2026-03-16) and results from the Georgia SOS official results API (May 19 General Primary/Nonpartisan, as of 2026-06-05; June 16 runoff, as of 2026-08-20). Mayor-elect Isaiah Hugley, Sr. (runoff 16,313 to 15,317 over JoAnne Cogle). Council winners for the new terms: D1 Simi Barnes, D3 Sherrie Aaron, D5 Charmaine Crabb (re-elected), D7 Rebecca 'Becca' Zajac (runoff), D9 At-Large Cathy Cook (runoff). Barnes and Cook also won the special elections for the rest of the current D1/D9 terms and are already seated. Following the Chandler/Long Beach convention, members-elect are in notes only, not rows; the outgoing Mayor Henderson, Bruce Huff (D3) and JoAnne Cogle (D7) remain rows until the new terms begin (January 2027 expected; exact start date not read from the charter).
  • Next Columbus municipal election: Districts 2, 4, 6, 8 and District 10 At-Large (terms ending 2028 per the Incumbents page) at the May 2028 Georgia general primary/nonpartisan election; the 2028 date is not yet published.
  • Candidates for November 3, 2026: the Georgia SOS qualified-candidate pages (sos.ga.gov, including robots.txt) return a Cloudflare managed challenge (HTTP 403) and were not bypassed, and the Muscogee County Board of Elections & Registration has posted no November sample ballot (only notices, early-voting sites and the constitutional-amendment booklet). Statewide contests (U.S. Senate, Governor) are taken from Fulton County's official consolidated sample ballot (identical statewide; it prints no Libertarian or independent for these). GA-2, GA-3, SD-15 and HD-140 nominees come from the SOS official primary and runoff results and carry candidateUnofficial: true — an independent or third-party general candidate in those contests cannot be ruled out.
  • Contests for Columbus's offices: U.S. Senate Ossoff (D, inc.) vs Mike Collins (R); Governor open (Kemp term-limited): Rick Jackson (R) vs Keisha Lance Bottoms (D); GA-2 Sanford Bishop (D, inc.) vs Matt Day (R); GA-3 Brian Jack (R, inc.) vs Maura Keller (D); SD-15 open (Ed Harbison lost the primary): Tremaine 'Teddy' Reese (D, the sitting HD-140 member) vs Chuck Hand (R); HD-140 open: Marquese 'Skinny' Averett (D) vs Edward Kvietkus (R). None unopposed. Write-ins and primary losers excluded.
  • Districts covering Columbus-Muscogee (from the contests on Muscogee's 2026 primary ballot): congressional GA-2 (20 of 25 reporting units) and GA-3 (8); State Senate 15 and 29; State House 137, 138, 139, 140, 141. Both U.S. House members are recorded; for the legislature only the Government Center's districts (SD-15, HD-140) are recorded, per the brief. Seat of government taken as the Government Center, where the Mayor and Council sit; the separate historic City Hall building geocodes to the same districts. No special elections in Muscogee since November 2024 apart from the November 2025 PSC contests (SOS results API, 2025-2026 elections checked).
  • Sources and terms: columbusga.gov (robots.txt disallows only admin/system paths such as /*/ctl/, /admin/, /Install/ — none used; Terms of Use read first: 'Copyright 2026 by Columbus Consolidated Government and/or its suppliers. All rights reserved', no reuse licence; photos linked, never copied), resources.columbusga.gov (Azure blob; no robots.txt), results.sos.ga.gov (robots.txt 404; public results API, read-only), house.gov (robots allows /representatives), unitedstates.github.io (CC0), fultoncountyga.gov (robots disallows only /springboard-page*), geocoding.geo.census.gov (robots 404). Blocked, not bypassed: sos.ga.gov (Cloudflare challenge). legis.ga.gov token API and senate.gov not used. Federal and state rows have no photos.
  • No home addresses, phones or personal emails recorded (the Incumbents page and some council pages print P.O. boxes, street addresses and phones; none copied). standsFor null for everyone (no candidate statements read). Constitutional/county offices that the consolidated government's voters also elect (Sheriff, Tax Commissioner, Coroner, clerks, judges, District Attorney, Board of Education) are not recorded; municipal = Mayor and Council per the brief.
