Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • Sources: Montgomery County Election Commission (montgomerytn.gov/election) 'Qualified Candidates, November 3, 2026 - State General and City of Clarksville' PDF (created 2026-09-23) for every candidate, and its 'Officials of Montgomery County, Clarksville, Tennessee' PDF (updated 9/28/2026) for federal, state and city officeholders, both retrieved 2026-10-23. The Commission's Official Sample Ballot (created 2026-09-17) confirms the offices on the ballot ('City Council (Wards 1, 2, 6, 7, 10, & 11)', 'US House of Representatives (Districts 5 & 7)', 'TN Senate - District 23', 'TN House (Districts 67, 68, & 75)'); its contest pages are images. Party codes R/D/I as printed kept in ballotParty. Write-ins skipped.
  • The qualified list prints home addresses and phone numbers for city candidates and the officials list prints home addresses and phones for most officeholders: none are copied. Candidate emails recorded only where they are a campaign-domain or official address (plus Billy Lange's campaign-named address); plain personal gmail/yahoo addresses left null. The City Judge's email is a private ISP address and is left null.
  • Municipal: Mayor Joe Pitts, City Judge Charles W. Smith and 12 ward council members from the county officials list, cross-checked name-for-name against clarksvilletn.gov/522/City-Council (Brian Zacharias, Ward 1, Mayor Pro Tem). Photos are the city's council-page and mayor's-page images, linked not copied. The mayoral race is open: Ward 1's Brian Zacharias and Ward 6's Wanda Smith are running for Mayor (recorded once, on their council rows, as incumbent-running with runningFor 'Mayor'), with Mark Riggins. Incumbents Eric Claunch (Ward 2) and Stacey Streetman (Ward 10) are running for re-election; Ward 7 (Travis Holleman) and Ward 11 (Joe Shakeenab) incumbents are not on the list. Ward 11 has one qualified candidate, Billy Lange (unopposed).
  • Next City of Clarksville election after 2026-11-03: November 2028 (Wards 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 12 and City Judge; terms 2024-2028 per the county list).
  • Districts: Census geocoder by coordinates on a 16x12 grid over Clarksville (60 points inside 'Clarksville city'): 120th-Congress (2026) layer TN-7 47, TN-5 13; 2026 State Senate SD-22 60; 2026 State House HD-67 23, HD-68 19, HD-75 18. City Hall (1 Public Sq, geocoded -87.361481, 36.527644) is TN-7, SD-22, HD-67. The county officials list names only TN-7's Matt Van Epps as Montgomery County's U.S. Representative, so the city is not represented by TN-5's sitting member (Andy Ogles, house.gov) and he is not recorded; Ogles is not on the Clarksville ballot. TN-5 candidates are recorded because TN-5 covers part of the city on the 2026 map.
  • State races on Clarksville-area ballots not recorded as people (seats do not contain City Hall): SD-23 Kerry Roberts (R, sitting) v David Lee Marcum (D) (no city grid point fell in SD-23); HD-68 Aron Maberry (R, sitting) v Garfield Scott (D); HD-75 Michael Lankford (R, sitting; appointed 12/8/25) v Allie Phillips (D).
  • Statewide lists match the Knoxville/Chattanooga/Memphis records exactly (Governor 15, U.S. Senate 10). sos.tn.gov, govotetn.gov and tn.gov were not tried this run (CloudFront 403 even on robots.txt in earlier runs); capitol.tn.gov not fetched (robots allows only named bots). The county Commission's lists are official but not the state's certified list.
  • counts: elected = people in office now (incl. incumbent-running); running = people on the 2026 ballot (incl. incumbent-running); unopposed = 1 (Ward 11).
  • Robots/terms: montgomerytn.gov (mcgtn.org redirects there; robots 'User-agent: * Disallow:'; no terms page found, accessibility statement only), clarksvilletn.gov (cityofclarksville.com redirects there; robots allows the council and mayor pages for '*'; Crawl-delay 10 honoured; Copyright Notices page states no terms), house.gov (Drupal robots; /representatives allowed), geocoding.geo.census.gov (no robots.txt; public Census service). No blocks met.
  • standsFor null for everyone (no candidate statements read). Wikipedia, Ballotpedia and news not used.
