Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • Municipal: Mayor from chicago.gov (Meet Mayor Brandon Johnson), City Clerk from chicityclerk.com (About Clerk Valencia), City Treasurer from chicagocitytreasurer.com, 50 alderpersons from chicago.gov/city/en/about/wards.html (retrieved 2026-10-15). chicityclerk.com/city-council returned 'Access denied' (not bypassed). Chicago municipal elections are non-partisan: party null, partyShort 'None'.
  • Congressional districts covering the city: Census TIGERweb polygon for Chicago city (place 1714000) sampled on a 160x160 grid (10,714 points inside the city) against the 120th Congress districts (layer 54). Districts and point shares: IL-1 (1,983), IL-7 (1,943), IL-5 (1,706), IL-2 (1,488), IL-4 (1,374), IL-3 (1,312), IL-9 (461), IL-6 (368), IL-8 (63, the O'Hare area); 11 points fell in water/undefined. Slivers under ~0.3 km could be missed. City hall (121 N LaSalle) is IL-7, SD-3, HD-6 in the Census geocoder.
  • Sitting U.S. Representatives from https://www.house.gov/representatives (Illinois table, retrieved 2026-10-15); all nine are Democrats. U.S. Senators (Richard J. Durbin, Tammy Duckworth): senate.gov returned HTTP 403 even for robots.txt (Akamai; not bypassed) — taken from the CC0 @unitedstates legislators-current.json (Durbin term ends 2027-01-03, Duckworth 2029-01-03). No federal photos linked.
  • State: Governor and Lieutenant Governor from gov.illinois.gov and ltgov.illinois.gov (retrieved 2026-10-15). City hall's state districts (SD-3, HD-6, Census geocoder 2026 layers) from ilga.gov member pages (robots.txt Crawl-delay 10 honoured). ILGA's HD-6 page lists a gmail address as 'Other Contact Info' — not copied (plainly personal-domain). Chicago is covered by many more legislative districts than these two; only city hall's are recorded as people.
  • Candidates: Cook County Clerk 'View All Candidates' for the November 3, 2026 Gubernatorial General Election (election code 110326), read via the page's own public JSON endpoint /api/Candidate/GetAllCandidates on 2026-10-15. It lists 161 contests county-wide including IL-1 to IL-11, SD-3 and HD-6. Names as printed; party codes as printed in ballotParty (DEM, REP, IND, ACP = American Center Party per Lake County Clerk's list, WCP not expanded on the Cook list — kept as printed). Write-ins are on a separate page and excluded; primary losers excluded. Joint Governor/Lt Governor tickets split into one row each.
  • Illinois State Board of Elections (elections.il.gov) robots.txt is 'User-agent: * Disallow: /' — not used. Chicago Board of Election Commissioners (chicagoelections.gov) returned a Cloudflare block (HTTP 403 'Sorry, you have been blocked') — not bypassed; its Chicago ballot list was therefore not read. The Cook County Clerk list is an official county election authority list and covers every federal/state contest recorded here, but it is not the Chicago Board's own ballot certification.
  • Open seats on the 2026 ballot (sitting member not on the general-election list): U.S. Senate (Durbin), IL-2 (Kelly), IL-4 (Garcia), IL-7 (Davis), IL-8 (Krishnamoorthi), IL-9 (Schakowsky); Lieutenant Governor (Stratton is the Democratic U.S. Senate nominee; Pritzker's running mate is Christian Mitchell). Unopposed: SD-3 Mattie Hunter and HD-6 Sonya Marie Harper (only candidate listed).
  • Next Chicago municipal election (Mayor, City Clerk, City Treasurer, all 50 alderpersons; non-partisan): February 23, 2027, with runoffs on April 6, 2027 (the Cook County Clerk's 2027 page confirms the April 6, 2027 Consolidated Election; the February date follows Illinois' last-Tuesday-in-February consolidated primary and could not be read from the Chicago Board, which blocks this client). No City of Chicago offices are on the 2026-11-03 ballot.
  • Robots/terms: chicago.gov (no robots.txt — 404; Disclaimer only, no reuse grant), chicityclerk.com (allows; '©2026 ... All Right Reserved'; /city-council page 'Access denied'), chicagocitytreasurer.com (allows all), house.gov (allows), geocoding/tigerweb.geo.census.gov (no robots), ilga.gov (allows member pages; Crawl-delay 10 honoured), gov.illinois.gov / ltgov.illinois.gov (allow *), cookcountyclerkil.gov (allows /elections and /api; '© 2026 Cook County Clerk's Office. All Rights Reserved.'), senate.gov (403), elections.il.gov (disallow all), chicagoelections.gov (Cloudflare block).
  • No home addresses, phones or personal emails recorded. standsFor left null for everyone (no candidate statements read). Photos linked only (Mayor, City Clerk, SD-3, HD-6); no federal photos.
