Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • Candidates: the Linn County Auditor (www.linncountyiowa.gov, www.linncounty.org, and linncountyelections.org which redirects there) answers even robots.txt with a Cloudflare 'Attention Required' block — not bypassed. The Iowa Secretary of State's robots.txt has 'User-agent: ClaudeBot / Disallow: /' (and anthropic-ai) — its 2026 General candidate list was not opened. Federal and statewide candidates therefore come from the Black Hawk County Auditor's official 'Candidates List - November 3rd, 2026' (as of 09/01/2026; Black Hawk is in IA-2; blackhawkcountyelections.iowa.gov has no robots.txt — 404). The list prints candidates' addresses and phones — not copied; emails kept only where they are campaign addresses (Laehn's laehn4iowa@gmail.com as printed). Statewide rows mirror us-davenport (Scott County ballot), re-pointed to the Black Hawk list, which agrees.
  • NOT CAPTURED — SD-39 and HD-78 candidates (both Linn County only; no reachable official list). Other statewide offices (SoS Peterman v Pate, Auditor Wettach v Cournoyer, Treasurer Norwood v Smith, Agriculture Jones v Naig, AG Willems v Bird) are on the Black Hawk list but outside the brief; Cournoyer recorded as sitting Lt. Governor.
  • Districts: Census geocoder at City Hall gave CD-2 (120th), SD-39, HD-78. An 8x8 grid (30 points inside 'Cedar Rapids city'): IA-2 on all (2026 and 119th maps); Senate 39 (15), 40 (9), 42 (3), 37 (3); House 77 (10), 80 (6), 78 (5), 79 (3), 74 (3), 84 (2), 83 (1). So at least four Senate and seven House districts cover the city; only City Hall's are recorded.
  • Members: Grassley, Ernst from the CC0 @unitedstates legislators-current.json; Hinson (IA-2) from house.gov/representatives; SD-39 Liz Bennett and HD-78 Angel Ramirez from legis.iowa.gov Senate and House member lists (robots: '*' disallows only /chambers/), with official @legis.iowa.gov emails. Governor Reynolds and Lt. Governor Cournoyer rows carried from us-davenport (governor.iowa.gov).
  • Municipal: Mayor and eight Councilmembers (three at-large, five district) from www.cedar-rapids.org 'Mayor & City Council' and the mayor/at-large/district_1-5 pages, retrieved 2026-11-01. www.cedar-rapids.org/robots.txt redirects to cms8.revize.com/revize/cedarrapids/robots.txt, whose '*' group disallows only two PDF forms (the cms8.revize.com root robots.txt, which disallows HTML, was also read; no page was fetched from that host). City Elections page: 'eight Council members plus the Mayor, all of whom serve four-year terms. The Mayor and three Council members are elected at large, while the remaining five members are elected by voters in their districts.' Printed terms: 2026–2029 (O'Donnell, Tyler Olson, Hoeger, Todd, Vanorny — elected November 2025) and 2024–2027 (Poe, Maier, Overland, Scott Olson). Next city election: November 2027 (Iowa regular city elections are in odd years) for the four 2024–2027 seats. Official city emails and headshot URLs recorded; phones not copied. The city ballot is non-partisan.
