Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • Candidates: Erie County Board of Elections '2026 General Candidates List For Web' (PDF created 2026-09-10) — the only 2026 general list posted; no later certified list was linked (a 'Can_List_Final_10-07.pdf' link on the home page is a dead redirect). Party = every ballot line, as printed (D Democratic, R Republican, C Conservative, W Working Families, VA Vote Affordable); partyShort = the major-party line. Write-ins excluded; primary losers are not on the list.
  • District coverage (Erie BOE 2026 Apportionment book): Buffalo's 208 election districts are all in NY-26; 152 in SD-63 and 56 in SD-61; Assembly AD-141 (103), AD-149 (49), AD-142 (32), AD-140 (17) and AD-143 (7). Only the city-hall state districts (SD-63, AD-149) are recorded as people, per the brief.
  • City-hall seats: SD-63 April N. McCants-Baskin (D/W, sitting) v Geoffrey M. Szymanski (R/C). AD-149 is open: the sitting member Jonathan D. Rivera is running unopposed for SD-61 (sitting senator Jeremy J. Zellner not on the list); Adam L. Bojak (D/W) v Frank M. Bogulski (R/C). NY-26: Timothy M. Kennedy (D, sitting) v Dennis E. Hannon (R/C). Governor: Hochul/Adams (D/W) v Blakeman/Hood (R/C/VA). State Comptroller (DiNapoli D/W v Hernandez R/C) and Attorney General (James D/W v Komatireddy R/C) are also on the ballot but are not recorded as people.
  • Councilmember Leah M. Halton-Pope (Ellicott) is the only candidate for Assembly District 141 (Democratic line); the sitting AD-141 member Crystal D. Peoples is not on the list. She is recorded once, on her council row, as incumbent-running with runningFor AD-141.
  • Municipal: Mayor, City Comptroller and the nine district Councilmembers, with party and official email, from the Erie BOE '2026 Directory of Public Officials' inside the 2026 Apportionment book (Feb 20, 2026), confirmed by name in the State Comptroller's City of Buffalo budget review B26-1-5 (May 8, 2026), which also gives 2026 leadership (President Feroleto, Majority Leader Halton-Pope, President Pro Tempore Everhart). District names match OpenData Buffalo's 'Council Spotlight' story (updated 2025-12-05; its leadership labels are from 2025). Scanlon's party is blank in the Directory; it is taken from his 2023 certified nomination (Erie BOE 2023 General Election Candidates Certification, Democratic line).
  • Buffalo has no municipal contest on the 2026 ballot other than one City Court Judge (Michael J. Pacifico, Democratic, sole candidate; judicial, not recorded) and eleven charter-amendment propositions. Council seats and City Comptroller were last elected in November 2023 (four-year terms) — next municipal election November 2027; Mayor next in November 2029.
  • BLOCKED / not used: www.buffalony.gov answers a Cloudflare 'Sorry, you have been blocked' page even to robots.txt (civicplus.io); ny-buffalo.civicplus.com robots.txt is 'Disallow: /' for all agents; www.nysenate.gov returns a Cloudflare managed challenge to robots.txt; www.senate.gov returns Akamai 403 to robots.txt; buffalony.iqm2.com timed out. None retried with another User-Agent or tool. So no city photos or council-page statements, and no State Senate photo.
  • The Erie BOE documents print candidate and officials' home or office street addresses and phone numbers; none were copied. Emails kept are official government addresses printed in the 2026 Directory. standsFor is null for everyone: no official list carries candidate statements. No Ballotpedia, Wikipedia or news used as a source; a web search only pointed to the OSC review and the OpenData story.
