Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • Municipal: Mayor and ten Councilmembers (two per ward, five wards) from the City and County of Broomfield 'Council Members' page (broomfield.org/954/Council-Members, read 2026-10-31), with service history and term-expiry years as printed. The Candidate and Campaign Information page (broomfield.org/1069): 'The Mayor shall be elected from the City and County at large for a two-year term ... Councilmembers elected from each of the five (5) wards ... for a four-year term ... One councilmember from each ward and the Mayor shall be elected in each regular election'. The City and County Manager and Attorney are appointed; the Elected Officials page lists no other city/county-wide elected office (the 17th Judicial District DA, Brian S. Mason, is district-wide, not recorded). Phones on the council page not copied; no individual emails are printed there. Photos linked from the council page.
  • 2026 municipal contest: '2026 Schedule of Office to be Elected' on broomfield.org/1069 lists one office: Ward 1, current holder Katie Peterson, '02/2026 appointed', term expires 2026. The 2025 Charter amendment 1C (approved) makes an appointee serve 'only until the next general or coordinated election'. The Ward 1 candidates could NOT be read: broomfield.org's pages read (Elections, Election Information, Candidate and Campaign Information, Broomfield Specific Ballot Questions) do not name them; the County's sample ballots are linked from broomfield.org as a Google Drive folder whose listing shows 'Style 110-02 - Includes: State Content, Local Content, and Ward 1 Race' and 'Style 101-05 - ... Ward 1 Race, and Jefferson County School District', but the PDFs download only from drive.usercontent.google.com, whose robots.txt disallows '/' — not fetched. myballot.coloradosos.gov (the SOS sample-ballot lookup) needs a voter lookup form and was not used. No Ward 1 candidate is recorded and Peterson stays 'elected'. A news search snippet (undated Yahoo item) naming a Democratic-endorsed Ward 1 candidate was not used.
  • Ballot questions 1A, 1B, 1C, 7E: as described on broomfield.org/4198 ('The Broomfield Council has referred four questions to the Broomfield voters for the Nov. 3, 2026 election').
  • District coverage: 9x9 coordinate grid over the city's bounding box (-105.15 to -104.96, 39.88 to 40.01) to the Census Geocoder (Current_Current); 25 points inside 'Broomfield city', no errors: all CO-7 (120th Congress), SD-25 and HD-33. Broomfield's boundary is irregular and its northern annexes are narrow; slivers narrower than the ~2 km grid spacing could be missed. City Hall (One DesCombes Dr) is CO-7 / SD-25 / HD-33. broomfield.org's Elected Officials page agrees (Pettersen; Senator William Lindstedt SD 25; Representative Kenny Nguyen HD 33).
  • Federal/state: U.S. Senators, Governor Polis and Lt. Governor Primavera, and every U.S. Senate, Governor and Lt. Governor candidate carried over from the us-fort-collins record (2026-10-29; SOS list 'Last updated September 15, 2026, 11:09 AM', 'certified to the counties on September 4'). CO-7, SD-25 and HD-33 candidates from the same SOS list as read on 2026-10-29 in this session (coloradosos.gov robots allows /pubs/): CO-7 Brittany Pettersen (D), Tim Bennett (R), Susan Hall (Unity), Lawrence Kyle Clark (American Constitution), Dan "Kilo" Sallis (Libertarian), Joe Krzeczkowski (Unaffiliated); SD-25 William Lindstedt (D), Paul Kohlhoff (R), Mark Philip Bromley (Unaffiliated); HD-33 Kenny Van Nguyen (D), Nate Jorgensen (R). Write-ins excluded; 'Unaffiliated' recorded as party null, partyShort 'Independent'. Legislators from the leg.colorado.gov legislator list (same session; official coleg.gov emails as printed, capitol phones not copied; photos not linked because leg.colorado.gov serves them from robots-disallowed paths).
  • Robots/terms: broomfield.org robots.txt has a group naming ClaudeBot (and other AI crawlers) with the same Disallow list as '*' (admin, search, calendar, RSS, map, FAQ, bids, CivicAlerts etc.); none of the pages used is disallowed. The '*' group sets Crawl-delay 10 and the ClaudeBot group none; requests were spaced 10 s anyway. drive.google.com robots allows /drive/ and /file (folder listing and file title read only); drive.usercontent.google.com disallows '/'. geocoding.geo.census.gov robots 404. No terms accepted, no forms, no logins. No home addresses, phones or personal emails recorded.
