Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • Municipal: Board of City Commissioners — the Mayor (President of the Commission) and four commissioners, all elected city-wide to four-year terms ("Commissioners and the Mayor are elected for four-year terms"), from https://www.bismarcknd.gov/2375/City-Commission and each member's Staff Directory entry, retrieved 2026-10-31; the 2026 roster on /2378/History-of-the-Bismarck-City-Commission agrees (Michael T. Schmitz, President; John Risch; Michael Connelly; Amelia Doll; Matt Hull). No email addresses are printed on the directory pages (contact forms only); office phones not copied. Non-partisan: party null. Bismarck's 2026 city election was on June 9, 2026 (Schmitz re-elected; Doll and Hull elected). Next city election: June 2028 (two commission seats) — inferred, not read from an official calendar.
  • Candidates: North Dakota Secretary of State, 2026 General Election Contest/Candidate List (vip.sos.nd.gov/candidatelist.aspx?eid=348, ASP.NET form posted with the page's own view state, no login/CAPTCHA), Statewide and Legislative jurisdictions, retrieved 2026-10-31. The list prints mailing addresses (several are home addresses) and phones, and Cloudflare-obfuscated emails — none copied; only campaign websites kept. Party as printed ("Democratic-NPL" → partyShort Democratic; "independent nomination" → Independent). Write-ins skipped.
  • Districts: Census geocoder (robots 404) at the City/County Office Building: ND at-large; 2026 State Senate District 35 / State House District 35. Other legislative districts also cover parts of Bismarck (not grid-sampled this session); only District 35 is recorded. District 35 is odd-numbered and up in 2026; all three sitting members are running again.
  • Sitting members: Fedorchak from house.gov/representatives; Senators Hoeven and Cramer from the CC0 @unitedstates legislators-current.json (senate.gov not used). District 35 legislators from ndlegis.gov members-by-district and /biography pages (official @ndlegis.gov emails; photos linked). Governor from governor.nd.gov (party not printed there).
  • Not recorded: Burleigh County offices, Bismarck Public Schools board, Bismarck Parks and Recreation District, judges. standsFor null for everyone.
