Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • Region check: local/data/us-asheville.json is Asheville, North Carolina (centre 35.5842,-82.5657).
  • Municipal: Mayor and six Council Members from https://www.ashevillenc.gov/government/meet-city-council/ and each member's page (retrieved 2026-10-31), which print the term ('Term: December 2022 - December 2026' etc.) and an @avlcouncil.com address (official council-member addresses linked from the City site; kept). Council is elected at-large and non-partisan (party null). Mosley is Vice Mayor. Portraits linked (og:image), not copied.
  • City election 2026: the Buncombe section of the NCSBE all-contest list (report dated Oct 13, 2026) has CITY OF ASHEVILLE MAYOR (Esther Manheimer, Kim Roney) and CITY OF ASHEVILLE CITY COUNCIL (Drew Ball, Maggie Ullman Berthiaume, Jeffrey Burroughs, S. Antanette Mosley, Sheneika E. Smith, Keith Young). The three Council seats ending December 2026 (Mosley, Ullman, Smith) are up; the list does not print the vote-for number — three seats inferred from the terms on the City pages. Roney's council term runs to 2028; she is running for Mayor.
  • Districts: Census coordinate lookup at City Hall (35.5954,-82.5495) gave CD-11, State Senate 49, State House 116 (2026 layers). An 8x8 grid over 35.49-35.67 N, 82.45-82.68 W put only 13 points inside "Asheville city": CD-11 and SD-49 on all 13; HD-116 (12), HD-114 (1). The sample is thin for an irregular city; HD-115 may also touch it. Only City Hall's legislators are recorded.
  • Federal: NC-11 member from https://www.house.gov/representatives (robots allows; retrieved 2026-10-31) — Chuck Edwards (R). He is NOT on the 2026 general list; the NC-11 candidates are Jennifer Capps Balkcom (REP, filed 08/11/2026), Jamie Ager (DEM), Travis Groo (LIB). Senators, the four U.S. Senate candidates and Governor Stein carried from us-greensboro; the Senate list was re-read 2026-10-31.
  • State: ncleg.gov answers a Cloudflare challenge (HTTP 403 "Attention Required!") even for robots.txt — not bypassed. Mayfield (SD-49) and Turner (HD-116) taken from the NCSBE official 2024 general precinct results (results_pct_20241105.zip, 3.7 MB, deleted after reading) and marked unofficial. Turner is unopposed in 2026 (acclaimed: true is set for the unopposed flag; he is still on the ballot).
  • Candidates: NCSBE '2026 General Candidate List by Contest' — Federal and State Only, and the all-contest version (both S3 Last-Modified 2026-10-13). 'Name on Ballot' used as name. The lists print home/mailing addresses — not copied. Buncombe County, school board, judicial and soil-and-water contests not recorded as people. Write-ins excluded.
  • Robots/terms: www.ashevillenc.gov robots.txt allows all; house.gov allows /representatives; s3.amazonaws.com returns 403 AccessDenied for /robots.txt (no rules published) — the public NCSBE download files were fetched; geocoding.geo.census.gov no robots.txt (404). Blocked: ncleg.gov (Cloudflare). standsFor null throughout.
