Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • Federal/state candidates come from the Texas Secretary of State Election Results site for the 2026 November General Election (electionresults.sos.state.tx.us/results.html, title 'Election Results - Tuesday, November 3, 2026', '(Updated 10/14/2026 07:34 AM)'), which lists every federal and state race with candidates and (I) for incumbents before polls open. robots.txt there returns 404 (no rules). The robots-disallowed SOS candidate site (goelect) and house.texas.gov were not touched. Write-in lines skipped. Names title-cased from the all-caps listing; ballotName keeps the printed form.
  • Every running row was cross-checked against the official county sample ballots for 3 Nov 2026: Potter County Elections Administration (pottercountytexasvotes.gov/sample-ballots; robots allows all but ?lightbox=; Precincts All 100s, 200s, 300s and 400s styles read) and Randall County (randallcounty.gov/170/Sample-Ballot, '2026 Joint General Election'; robots Crawl-delay 10 honoured; styles 'Precincts 103, 123, 301, 302, 305, 306, 307, 309, 317, 325, 332' and '110, 111, 112, 114, 131, 315, 324' read). Names and parties match the SOS listing. Randall's footer Disclaimer was read (lawful use only; 'as is'; no reuse restriction) - but only AFTER its Sample Ballot page had been fetched once; the ballot PDFs were downloaded after it was read. Potter's Wix election site shows no terms page.
  • Districts: Census geocoder (robots 404) on city hall (35.2069, -101.8319): Potter County, Congressional District 13 (120th map), State Senate District 31, State House District 87. A 0.03-degree grid gave 32 points inside Amarillo city: all in TX-13 and SD-31; Potter 23 / Randall 9; HD-87 23 points and HD-86 9 points (the Randall County part). Only city hall's HD-87 is listed as a person row, per the brief; HD-86 is an open seat in 2026 (Holly Jeffreys R, Cullin Knutson D on the SOS list and Randall ballots; incumbent John Smithee is on the TLO House list but not on the ballot). No street address is stored.
  • U.S. Senators Cornyn and Cruz from the Texas Legislative Council service rws.capitol.texas.gov/api/GetSenators (robots 404; prints no party - Republican as on senate.gov in earlier Texas records). Ronny Jackson (R, TX-13, jackson.house.gov) from house.gov/representatives (robots allows it); he is on the 2026 ballot, so incumbent-running. Governor Greg Abbott (R, term 2026) from the SOS Statewide Elected Officials page (sos.state.tx.us; robots.txt empty). State Senator Kevin Sparks from senate.texas.gov/member.php?d=31 (robots disallows only /_assets, /bin, /kids, /hola, /tsn, /memberForm.php); photo at /members/d31/img/ linked, not copied. State Rep. Caroline Fairly (District 87) from Texas Legislature Online MemberInfo (Code A4480; robots allows /Members/); party from the SOS listing and ballots.
  • Municipal: www.amarillo.gov answers robots.txt itself with HTTP 403 'Service unavailable ... The request is blocked.' (Azure Front Door WAF) for this User-Agent, 2026-10-22 (requested twice in a row, the second time only to read the block body; not retried after). amarillo.legistar.com has no Amarillo tenant ('Invalid parameters!'). The council's own member page could therefore not be read. Mayor and the four council members are taken instead from the OFFICIAL election results published by the two county election offices that ran the City's elections: City of Amarillo General Election 3 May 2025 and Runoff 7 June 2025, Potter and Randall cumulative reports summed. Amarillo's council is a Mayor plus Councilmember No. 1-4, all elected city-wide, non-partisan. Their status is 'elected' as of those canvasses; any resignation, vacancy or appointment since June 2025 could not be checked on the city site.
  • Next municipal election: neither county lists any City of Amarillo election in 2026 (Potter's archive shows 2026 only for the March primary and May runoff); the City elected Mayor and all four seats in May 2025, so the next regular city election is expected on the May 2027 uniform election date - NOT confirmed on an official city page (site blocked). The 5 Nov 2024 ballot carried City of Amarillo propositions (Randall canvass), none in 2026.
  • Counties: 'Criminal District Attorney Randall County' (Lacy Miller, R, no opponent) and Potter/Randall county offices are on the ballot but county offices are out of scope; no rows added. No standsFor entries: no candidate's own statement was read this run. Write-in candidates skipped.
