Notes on this record
How the lists were read, and what could not be.
- Federal/state candidates come from the Texas Secretary of State Election Results site for the 2026 November General Election (electionresults.sos.state.tx.us/results.html, title 'Election Results - Tuesday, November 3, 2026', '(Updated 10/14/2026 07:34 AM)'), which lists every federal and state race with its candidates and marks incumbents (I). Its robots.txt returns 404 (no rules); no terms page is linked. The robots-disallowed SOS candidate site (goelect) and house.texas.gov were not touched. Write-ins skipped. Names title-cased from the all-caps listing; ballotName keeps the printed form.
- Every running row was cross-checked against two official sample ballots for 3 Nov 2026: Taylor County Elections ('2026 Joint General and Special Elections', DocumentCenter/View/5290, precincts 101-107A/301-307A, and View/5283, precincts 201-205; scanned images, read through their text layer) and Jones County (co.jones.tx.us, 'Sample Ballot for November 3, 2026 General Election (includes City of Abilene and Clyde CISD)'). Names and parties match the SOS listing. Both list TX-19 Tom Sell (REP) / Kyle Rable (DEM), SD-28 Charles Perry (REP) / Riley Rodriquez (DEM), HD-71 Jay Hardaway (REP) / Diana Luna (DEM).
- Districts: Census geocoder (robots 404) on city hall (32.4541, -99.7312): Taylor County, Congressional District 19 (120th map), State Senate District 28, State House District 71. A 0.03-degree grid gave 28 points inside Abilene city (27 Taylor, 1 Jones): ALL in TX-19, SD-28 and HD-71, so one district of each kind covers the city. No street address is stored.
- U.S. Senators Cornyn and Cruz from rws.capitol.texas.gov/api/GetSenators (robots 404; prints no party - Republican as in earlier Texas records). Jodey Arrington (R, TX-19, arrington.house.gov) from house.gov/representatives (robots allows it); he is NOT on the 2026 ballot - TX-19 is an open seat. Governor Greg Abbott (R, term 2026) from the SOS Statewide Elected Officials page (sos.state.tx.us; robots.txt empty). State Senator Charles Perry ('Party: Republican') from senate.texas.gov/member.php?d=28 (robots disallows only /_assets, /bin, /kids, /hola, /tsn, /memberForm.php); photo at /members/d28/img/ linked, not copied. State Rep. Stan Lambert (District 71) from Texas Legislature Online MemberInfo (89th Legislature, Code A3225; robots allows /Members/); TLO prints no party and no other official source for his party was read, so party is null. He is not on the 2026 ballot (HD-71 open: Hardaway R, Luna D).
- Municipal: abilenetx.gov's robots.txt (Cloudflare-managed) names ClaudeBot with 'Disallow: /' (and sets Content-Signal ai-train=no) - so the City's own council page, charter and canvasses were NOT fetched. abilenetx.legistar.com has no Abilene tenant ('Invalid parameters!'). Council members can therefore be shown only where the county election office (which runs Abilene's May elections) has posted a City of Abilene result: Taylor County's Archived Election Results page links the May 3 2025 City of Abilene official report (Places 5 and 6 + Proposition A) and its Current Election page links the 13 June 2026 City of Abilene Runoff report (Place 4). Taylor County has NOT posted the May 2026 City general election (mayor and other places), the June 2025 Place 5 runoff, or a 2024 City election; Jones County posts none of these. Abilene's Mayor and Places 1, 2, 3 and 5 are therefore missing - not guessed. Place 5 (May 2025: Kyle McAlister 49.78%, Miguel Espinoza 42.98%, Cynthia D. Alvidrez 7.24%) went to a runoff whose result was not found on an official page.
- Taylor County site robots.txt: a group naming ClaudeBot and other AI crawlers repeats only the ordinary admin/search/calendar disallows (no 'Disallow: /'); the * group sets Crawl-delay 10, honoured (10 s between requests). Its 'Copyright Notices' page has no text (no reuse terms stated). One slip to record: the first request went to the old host www.taylorcountytexas.org (robots 404), which redirected to www.taylorcounty.texas.gov's HOME page before that host's robots.txt had been read; robots.txt was read immediately after and before any other page. No terms page was found on co.jones.tx.us.
- Next municipal election: Abilene elects council places and mayor in May on staggered three-year terms (Places 5-6 in 2025; Place 4 decided in the June 2026 runoff). The 3 Nov 2026 ballot carries City of Abilene Propositions A and B (fire fighters' collective bargaining; City Charter Section 145 impasse arbitration with IAFF Local 1044) but no city office. Next regular city election expected May 2027 (uniform election date) - NOT confirmed on an official city page (site disallowed).
- County offices (County Judge Phil Crowley, Criminal District Attorney etc.) are on the ballot but out of scope; no rows. No standsFor entries: no candidate's own statement was read this run.
