Notes on this record
How the lists were read, and what could not be.
- BLOCKED: every official Maltese host returned a Cloudflare 'Sorry, you have been blocked' page (HTTP 403), including robots.txt: beltvallettalc.gov.mt (Valletta Local Council), localgovernment.gov.mt (lc.gov.mt redirects there), parlament.mt / www.parlament.mt, electoral.gov.mt, and by extension gov.mt (Government Gazette). Not bypassed. Every person in this record is therefore taken from Wikipedia (tier B, en.wikipedia.org /wiki/ pages only, robots allows) and marked unofficial: true. Re-check all names against the official lists when they can be reached.
- Municipal: Valletta Local Council (Kunsill Lokali tal-Belt Valletta) has 7 councillors elected by STV; at the 8 June 2024 local election PL won 4 seats (55.4%), PN 3 (38.7%), others 5.9% and 0 seats (Wikipedia, 2024 Maltese local elections). Only the mayor, Olaf McKay (PL), could be named; the deputy mayor and the 6 other councillors are not named on any source that could be read (the council's own site is blocked), so they are left out. No district-level mayors exist within Valletta.
- Provincial: none recorded. Valletta sits in the Port Region (Reġjun Port), one of six Regional Councils; regional councils are made up of delegates from the local councils (Local Government Act art. 37B functions: waste tenders, coordination), not a directly elected assembly with its own election. Left out per the brief.
- Federal: the House of Representatives (Kamra tad-Deputati) is elected by STV in 13 five-seat electoral districts; Valletta is in District 1 (with Floriana, Ħamrun, Marsa, Santa Venera, Pietà and part of Birkirkara, after the 2026 boundary changes). Snap general election held 30 May 2026: PL 51.77% / 42 seats, PN 44.68% / 37 seats after proportionality and gender-corrective additional seats (Wikipedia infobox; the article's prose says 36 and 29 before additional seats). District 1 returned PL 3 (55.23%) and PN 2 (41.96%). The Wikipedia member list and Nigel Vella's article list 7 members under District 1 (5 PL, 2 PN); the 5 district winners are Azzopardi Tanti, Debattista, Vella (PL) and Carabott, Mifsud Bonnici (PN) — a search snippet of the Government Gazette notice and MaltaToday's list agree on these five — and Fleur Abela and Cressida Galea are most likely additional seats under the Article 52A gender mechanism (casual elections and the gender mechanism concluded mid-June 2026 per MaltaToday, cited on Wikipedia). Prime Minister Robert Abela (PL, sworn in 1 June 2026); Leader of the Opposition Alex Borg (PN). Next general election due by 2031.
- European Parliament: Malta elects 6 MEPs by STV in a single national constituency (no sub-national constituencies); last election 8 June 2024. Official list: https://www.europarl.europa.eu/meps/en/search/advanced?countryCode=MT — europarl.europa.eu returned an AWS WAF challenge (HTTP 202, x-amzn-waf-action: challenge) to robots.txt, so it was not read. No MEPs added, per the brief.
- Next election: Malta holds all local council elections together with the European Parliament election, every five years; the councils elected on 8 June 2024 serve to the 2029 EP election (date not yet set; expected June 2029). No election affecting Valletta falls within the next 6 months, so no candidates are recorded.
- No photos linked (official photo pages could not be reached; Wikipedia images were not used). No emails recorded. standsFor null for everyone.
- Hosts/terms: en.wikipedia.org robots.txt allows /wiki/ (Special: disallowed, not used); mt.wikipedia.org also checked (no councillor names). Web searches used: 3.
