Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • Municipal: Mayor from https://www.nicosia.org.cy/el-GR/mayorsoffice/Mayor/ (Χαράλαμπος Προύντζος; took office 1 July 2024 as first mayor of the new metropolitan Municipality of Nicosia formed by merging the municipalities of Nicosia, Aglantzia, Engomi and Agios Dometios). nameLatin 'Charalampos Prountzos' is the Interior Ministry results spelling. Elected 9 June 2024 (Mayoral Elections 2024, Lefkosias municipality: 20,173 of 35,525 valid votes), https://results.elections.moi.gov.cy/english/mayoral_elections_2024_159/Islandwide. Retrieved 2026-10-21.
  • Deputy mayors: the merged municipality has four municipal districts (Δημοτικά Διαμερίσματα: Λευκωσία, Αγλαντζιά, Έγκωμη, Άγιος Δομέτιος), each with a directly elected Deputy Mayor (Αντιδήμαρχος), from https://www.nicosia.org.cy/el-GR/council/Αντιδήμαρχοι/. Χρύσανθος Φάκας, Πανίκος Κωνσταντίνου and Κωνσταντίνος Γιάγκου were elected 2024 (Interior Ministry 'Municipal Elections 2024 - Deputy Mayors', election 165). Aglantzia: the 2024 winner Antreas Konstantinou (5,938 votes) was elected MP in May 2026; Άντρη Χατζηανδρέου won the 2026 by-election (Interior Ministry 'Municipal Elections 2026 - Deputy Mayors', election 197: 2,309 votes vs Prokopis Prokopiou 1,852; turnout 27.7%). The by-election date is not printed on the results page; her termStart is left null.
  • Council: 26 Municipal Councillors (Δημοτικοί Σύμβουλοι) from https://www.nicosia.org.cy/el-GR/council/members/ (Greek only; the en-GB page returns HTTP 410). Names are given in Greek as printed. The member list shows neither party nor municipal district, so party is null and seat null for every councillor. Councillors were elected on party lists per municipal district on 9 June 2024, but the Interior Ministry results (election 164) give party vote totals per area only, not the elected individuals, so party affiliation could not be taken from an official list. Telephone numbers on the member list (mostly mobile numbers) were not copied. Mayor and deputy mayors run as individual candidates (results type 'Individual'), so party null / partyShort None.
  • District-level wards: Cyprus has no sub-municipal elected district mayors beyond the four Deputy Mayors above; parish chiefs (Κοινοτάρχες Ενοριών) appear on the municipal site but are not recorded.
  • Provincial: Cyprus districts have no directly elected assembly. Since the 2024 local-government reform each district has a District Self-Government Organisation (ΕΟΑ) whose President is directly elected; its council is made up of representatives of the member local authorities (not directly elected) and is not recorded. Only the directly elected President of ΕΟΑ Λευκωσίας is recorded (Constantinos Yiorkadjis, former Mayor of Nicosia 2012-2024; English spelling per en.wikipedia /wiki/Constantinos_Yiorkadjis; official results spelling KONSTANTINOS GIORKATZIS). No official ΕΟΑ Lefkosias member page was reached.
  • Federal (national): House of Representatives, elected 24 May 2026 by party-list PR in six districts; the Nicosia district elects 19 of the 56 Greek Cypriot seats (24 Turkish Cypriot seats stay vacant). Nicosia district result (Interior Ministry, https://results.elections.moi.gov.cy/english/parliamentary_elections_2026_190/Islandwide, district LEFKOSIA, 416/416 boxes): DISY 27.10% (5 seats), AKEL 21.67% (5), ELAM 10.52% (3), DIKO 7.87% (3), ALMA 7.79% (2), ADK 5.43% (1); DIPA 4.76%, Volt 4.40% and others won no seat (seat split from en.wikipedia 2026 Cypriot legislative election). The Ministry results page lists party votes only, not the elected individuals. The 19 MP names come from en.wikipedia /wiki/List_of_members_of_the_parliament_of_Cyprus,_2026–2031 (tier B, last resort) and match the CNN Greece report of the returning officer's declaration on 25 May 2026 (news corroboration only). Yiannis Laouris (ADK) was declared after party leader Fidias Panayiotou gave up the seat. Re-verify against parliament.cy when reachable. Islandwide: DISY 17, AKEL 15, ELAM 8, DIKO 8, ALMA 4, ADK 4 = 56.
  • Head of state and government: President Nikos Christodoulides (presidential system; elected February 2023, five-year term) — not recorded as a person because he is elected nationwide, not for the Nicosia constituency.
  • European Parliament: Cyprus elects 6 MEPs in a single nationwide constituency (no sub-national constituencies); last held 9 June 2024. Official results: https://results.elections.moi.gov.cy/english/european_elections_2024_163/Islandwide; MEP list: https://www.europarl.europa.eu/meps/en/search/advanced?countryCode=CY. No MEPs recorded.
  • Next election: the presidential election due in February 2028 (the 2023 first round was 5 February 2023); the exact date has not been proclaimed, so election.date is null and election.expected is the month (2028-02) and candidateList is null. No election affecting Nicosia falls within the next 6 months and no official candidate list is published, so no candidates are recorded (running = 0). Next municipal and ΕΟΑ elections are expected in 2029 (not verified at an official source).
  • Northern Nicosia (Lefkoşa, administered by the Turkish Cypriot authorities) is outside this record; only the Republic-controlled Municipality of Nicosia is covered.
  • Robots/terms: www.nicosia.org.cy (robots allows /el-GR/ pages; no reuse licence stated; mayor photo linked not copied), results.elections.moi.gov.cy (robots 'Disallow:' empty = allow; public JSON /api/english/Results used as the page itself does), en.wikipedia.org (/wiki/ allowed). BLOCKED: www.parliament.cy (HTTP 403 'Έλεγχος Ασφαλείας' security-check page on every path; not bypassed), www.gov.cy incl. gov.cy/moi-elections (Azure WAF JavaScript challenge, HTTP 403; not bypassed). elections.gov.cy redirects to gov.cy.
