Anchorage: who represents it, and who is running

Alaska General Election (federal and state offices; top-four primary held 2026-08-18, ranked-choice general) votes on 2026-11-03. It elects u.S. Senator (Class 2, Sullivan's seat); U.S. Representative AK-AL; Governor and Lieutenant Governor (open: Dunleavy is term-limited); the State House seats (all 40) and about half the State Senate seats, including Anchorage's districts; ballot measures. No Anchorage municipal offices are on the November ballot: the next Regular Municipal Election is Tuesday, April 6, 2027 (Mayor, whose term ends June 30, 2027; the Assembly contact list shows no Assembly term ending in 2027 — Seats A, D, F, H, J, L end April 2028 and B, C, E, G, I, K end April 2029)..

Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • Candidates: NONE recorded as running. Alaska's official 2026 general-election candidate list lives only on www.elections.alaska.gov, which answered the first request (robots.txt) with an AWS WAF 'Human Verification' CAPTCHA page (HTTP 405). Not retried, no other User-Agent or tool, no bypass. The Alaska Public Offices Commission candidate-registration list (aws.state.ak.us/ApocReports, robots.txt allows) returned HTTP 403 'Please enable JS and disable any ad blocker' on the candidates page, and is a filing register, not a ballot list anyway. So no running or incumbent-running statuses could be set from an official list; Sullivan (Senate), Begich (House) and the Governor's seat are on the ballot but stay 'elected'. Re-run when the Division of Elections is reachable.
  • State legislature: city hall is in Senate District I and House District 17 (Census 2026 state legislative district layers). The Alaska Legislature (www.akleg.gov) answered robots.txt with a Cloudflare managed challenge (HTTP 403), so no legislator was read from an official page and neither the SD-I senator nor the HD-17 representative is listed. A web search snippet (Wikipedia/Ketchikan Daily News, not opened) names Löki Tobin (Democratic) as the SD-I incumbent, possibly unopposed in 2026 — unverified, not used. The Municipality is covered by roughly House Districts 9-24 and Senate Districts E-L (by the 2022 plan's numbering; not GIS-checked).
  • Governor: gov.alaska.gov also answers an AWS WAF CAPTCHA (robots.txt), so Dunleavy rests on the National Governors Association page (robots allows, crawl-delay 10 honoured) and the GPO Official Congressional Directory, which misspells him 'Mike Dunleavey'.
  • Federal: senate.gov answered robots.txt with an Akamai 'Access Denied' 403, so the senators come from the GPO Official Congressional Directory (2026-02-20 text edition, govinfo robots allows /content/); the representative from the House Clerk Member Data XML (published October 1, 2026). No senate photos linked.
  • Municipal: the Municipality of Anchorage elects a Mayor (nonpartisan, three-year term) and a 12-member Assembly (two members from each of six districts, lettered seats A-L, nonpartisan, three-year staggered terms). Mayor Suzanne LaFrance from the Office of the Mayor page (term July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2027). Assembly members, districts, emails and photos from the Assembly Member Profiles page; seat letters and term-end dates from the 'Assembly Members Public Contact List' PDF (revised 04/29/2026). Anna Brawley is Assembly Chair, Daniel Volland Vice Chair. Assembly office phone and texting numbers were not copied. muni.org has no robots.txt (404) and states no reuse terms on these pages. School board: skipped per brief.
  • Next municipal election: Tuesday, April 6, 2027 (Municipal Clerk Elections page). The April 2026 regular election (Seats B, C, E, G, I, K) is complete and its winners are the sitting members above.
  • Re-checked 2026-10-31 (thin-03 deepening pass): www.elections.alaska.gov and elections.alaska.gov still answer robots.txt with the AWS WAF "Human Verification" CAPTCHA (HTTP 405), so the official 2026-11-03 general-election candidate list remains unreadable and no running/incumbent-running status was set; not retried, no other UA or tool. The State of Alaska Online Public Notices host (aws.state.ak.us, where Division of Elections notices are posted) answers robots.txt with a DataDome CAPTCHA (HTTP 403). www.akleg.gov robots.txt now loads (HTTP 200) but its Cloudflare-managed group names ClaudeBot and anthropic-ai with "Disallow: /", so no legislator page was fetched; the city-hall State Senate and House members stay unlisted. Web searches found only third-party lists (Ballotpedia, The Green Papers, The Ballot Brief, Ketchikan Daily News); none official, so none used. New since 2026-10-22: www.muni.org now serves a robots.txt (HTTP 200) whose group names ClaudeBot and anthropic-ai with "Disallow: /"; the Mayor and Assembly rows (read 2026-10-22, before that file existed) are kept as found but could not be re-verified, and the Municipal Clerk elections page was not re-read. Next Regular Municipal Election remains Tuesday, April 6, 2027 per the 2026-10-22 read.
  • Early voting for the 2026-11-03 general election, per Alaska Division of Elections — Absentee and Early Voting Locations (https://www.elections.alaska.gov/avo/), as read and supplied by Jim on 2026-10-31 (the site shows a CAPTCHA to automated readers). Early-vote locations marked "House Districts 1-40" take any Alaska voter. Midtown Mall early-vote location: Mon–Fri Oct 19–Nov 2, 8am–5pm; Sat Oct 24 & 31, 10am–4pm; Sun Oct 25 & Nov 1, noon–4pm; Election Day 7am–8pm. Anchorage City Hall (Room 105): Mon–Fri Oct 19–Nov 2, 8am–5pm; Sat Oct 24, noon–3pm. South Central Foundation: Mon–Fri Oct 27–Nov 2, 9am–4pm.
